Millaz88 Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 So guys I would really like it if someone on here either has or has use of a laser cutter/plasmer cutter or pretty much anything that could cut me out some exhaust port flanges for my 4k so I can weld up my manifold for my t25 turbo setup Also could do with a plate to bolt onto the intake manifold (were the carby would normally bolt on) I need these out of quiet thick mild steel so I can weld onto it Any help would be absolutely wonderful I'm in hoppers crossing area but hey if you live in w/a and can help and post I would be wrapped Cheers Miller Quote
Jordain Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 Hey mate, I'm going to get a few made up soon... 8mm stainless is what I'm getting laser cut. I haven't got a price yet but I dropped it off today so I'll get the price and see if you want one haha! Quote
Millaz88 Posted August 22, 2011 Author Report Posted August 22, 2011 Is there a reason your going stainless? I would be keen so yeh let me know it would be sweet if the price is write Also 8mm will that be the same thickness of the intake manifold? Cheers Miller Quote
Jordain Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 stainless is nice when polished lol, Quote
philbey Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 (edited) 300 Stainless is notorious for cracking and failing on turbo manifolds. I wouldn't be running stainless, unless it was 409 or similar, and it's not that good for shiny. If you want shiny, go for an inconel coating. Edited August 22, 2011 by philbey Quote
styler Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 unfortunately common laser cutting stainless steel grades are 304, 316 and 2205 duplex sheet. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 Won't stay shiny in an exhaust, and 8mm is way too thin. Using stock inlet? Wait till you try and bolt them up to the head! Quote
Millaz88 Posted August 22, 2011 Author Report Posted August 22, 2011 (edited) That's what I was thinking might be to thin... Also I'm not fussed with shinny it will all be wrapped so mild steel is fine it's only a steam pipe welb up job so yeh anyone? Or even a reasonable place around Melb I don't have any issues paying I just am not paying out the nose Edited August 22, 2011 by Millaz88 Quote
