King Arthur to Sir Bedevere (aka KE70dave), "Explain again, how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes."

Edit: I should add, unnecessarily of course, that I am King Arthur.

Is this really necessary? Broadly, he asked for recommendations on the best value reliable tie rods available for his Corolla.

If what you're all saying is basically any brand is fine in your experience and that any autoparts store will suffice, then why don't you just say that?

Fair point Snot 35.

Realistically though, it's not hard to ring your local autoparts store and get a price.

My preference is for 555 brand, I had a nasty crash years ago when a tierod failed on hitting some standing water whilst travelling in a straight line. Why are they better? Well they are made in Japan which may or may not count for anything, rather than something made in China, but that's just my opinion. But realistically, you will get whatever is available at your local supercheap or whatever. Options are pretty limited these days.

If you can wait a week or two, 555 brand tierods are usually available from Thailand via ebay. Just message gira7777 on ebay and ask if he has any. Just because they are not currently listed, doesn't mean he doesn't have any. He's cheap, fast and reliable. There are forum sponsors you can ask, see the sponsors thread. Dave at AJPS does pretty good prices, google AJPS.

sorry mate, i was a bit harsh.

just maybe next time use a few more words, explain your situation a bit better, we are happy to help people that help themselves sort of thing.

$70 seems to be about the right price, maybe a bit rich, but you got them today, so thats pretty good.

by struts do you mean shock absorbers?

i like the KYB stuff, made in japan, good shocks, and quite cheap.

but if you are going for OEM replacement, pretty much any shock will do, monroe pedders etc.

but yeah my preference at the lower end of the budget scale is KYB.

well the rear is seperate shocks and springs (leaf springs in your case), so you don't get "rear struts". you just buy the shocks on their own.....

the front is you buy a shock insert. you don't buy the entire strut.

you pull the old insert out....and you put the new insert in. its called a "shock cartridge".

only way you can buy the struts is to buy them 2nd hand.
