So... I've just picked up a 74' ke20 project about a week ago.

Its been defected, but its that straight and clean, I couldn't pass it up.

It's all there, i just gotta bolt it back together and get it running smooth.

I had a ke70 for a while, and loved the indestructable design of theses cars.

Although a have a bit of mechanical knowledge, I'm a novice with corollas, and could use some help with the basics...

looking for some info, or links, on what springs can be transfered into my ke20... are other ke's the same?

are there any other parts off of similar cars that will bolt in easy enough?

Also, can anyone give me some info of how to tell which engine I have... the previous owner has made a couple of changes, and can't remember.

I'm on a budget, so I'm definatly looking to use second hand parts, but happy to spend money where it's needed.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm sure there's some common issues, or traits these cars have.

Cheers

Hey mate, as far as i know, ke20 springs are the only springs that will fit.

Fair few things are interchangable though, like engine's and front brakes mirrors etc, you'd have to be more specific

Easy way to tell what engine you have is look on the drivers side of the engine block towards top left near the firewall it'll say like '4K 92342347

As far as common issue's just body rust really, in the rear panels, bottom of the front guards, bonnet and doors

and the right hand subframe rail. Most of the ones I have wrecked are rusted or cracked in that area.

I found that HZ Kingswood front springs will fit KE20 struts but need to be shortened heaps and V8 ones like I used will make the front super stiff. Have heard rumors that Centura springs will fit aswell but have not done this to confirm.

king springs will actually make you any spring you want (length, ID, rate) for pretty cheap. so if you get stuck they will make you some. (coil springs that is)

its a custom order so you have to go through somewhere like repco, i got some coilover springs made a few yrs back, cost me under $200 for a pair.
