Hey everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone has painted their dash and centre console,

what prep and stuff is involed and is it worth it?

I lightly sanded mine the sprayed all original interior parts flat black, come up a treat ;)

Just clean it up and use some vinyl spray. It pays to go for the higher quality (more expensive) brands as they provide a much better finish.

make sure you prepsol/wax and grease remove the surface REALLY REALLY GOOD.. i have done it before and didnt prep it properly.. within a week the 4 cans of $30 vinyl dye went to waste cause it started flaking off..

 

this is because the vinyl treatment stuff people use are silicon based and paint really doesnt like to adhere to it.

oh and here is a pic of a ke55 i did

 

I rubbed my rear door cards over with thinners and then used black vynal spray, Came up pretty well!

 

But it sticks like arse when you're spraying it! So avoid spraying bits inside the car and you wont have to burst out of the car gasping for air like i did :lolcry:

Depends what paint if its good expensive stuff probs not but cheap shit definatly. Or get the 2in1 paint an primer.

Yeah I'm gonna do it soon aswell, i just wonted to know if it will work and not flake off or anything.

it tends to peel off on softer materials.
