Well id say that $1800 for a completely stock ke70 with a shit load of rust and dents, full internal stripping, no exhaust, no rear brakes, and a stuffed alternator, is only about $1400 over priced! chrisfindlay Posted January 3, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) Got a heap of work done yesterday, I was pretty pleased with myself :blush: Started out the day by installing my new grill and brand new headlights and corner lights, didnt take too long.. Car is starting to look pretty fierce.. After that I found out that Cop Bait was missing the springs and rods in the boot that kept the boot lid open, so I had to take them out of Jail Bait and install them, didnt take very long but it was a bit of a mission to get them into position when they want to spring and bend back the other way.. Now I have a boot that stays open! I also found out that Cop bait was missing the spring and mechanism to open and close the fuel bay door so it just flopped about... After a bit of switch and swap I removed the boot release and fuel door release from Jail Bait, and installed them into Cop bait, this was actually so easy to do, I was shocked. After all of that I moved on to removing the gear stick from Jail bait, and then removed the gear stick from cop bait and performed the old switcharoo, as the gear stick in Cop bait had been cut down and was kinda sketchy to drive with.. Also took the full dash and glove box out of cop bait and replaced it with the dash from jail bait all re painted and fresh, which means Cop bait now has a tacho dash!! Oh and I got a brand new dash mat online :) Now I need to install my gauges properly and throw in my momo steering-wheel and sparco boss kit.. I sent the FUGLY looking monza buckets away to be re-upholstured today... $700 later... Oh well they will look so sexy when they come back! Then off to supercheap I went to get an amp wiring kit, while I was out and about I picked up this cadence amp... It was $399 - Got it for $150 brand new! WINNING! Began the attempt to fit a large "FULLY SICK" subwoofer into a little sub box :blinks: - This was actually kinda fun!! Started off with this... So after removing the sub from the original sony sub box housing I drew a rough circular shape that I thought was roughly the size of the sub, haha then I jammed my dustpan into the original housing hoping it would catch most of the saw dust and stuff but ummm..... That failed :doh: Then I cut the circle that I had drawn out with a Jigsaw and after a little bit of sanding and filing, oh and vacuuming out the sub box, the sub fit!! Doesnt it look good? :wootjump: Oh yeah I decided to put the sub in upside down if you noticed above ^ well technically the sub is the right way up and the sub box is upside down but you get what I mean.. Why you ask? :hmm: Well, if you look in the boot of your ke70/ae71 to the left hand side you will notice that there is a large opening where from what I can tell your jack is meant to sit in.. Yeah turns out that when this sub box is upside down it fits in the opening and blocks the opening completely, leaving my sub taking up less room in my boot and making my boot look neater :) getting the sub box to fit in the gap was like attempting to put a condom on a watermelon but hey, its done now... :2thumbs: Edited January 3, 2012 by chrisfindlay Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The black wooden sony side panels could do with some touch up paint, or just a respray.. And the carpet could do with a clean.. But there isn't any damage and the box is in good condition.. chrisfindlay Posted January 3, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 3, 2012 The best thing about this car is before purchasing either of the Ke70's I honestly had almost no knowledge about cars at all, like yeah I knew the basic stuff like what a radiator and stuff was and I new what most of the main components to a car where and how they worked but other than that I knew nothing about vehicle restoration and modification. And now I'm slowly learning neat things which is sick, and after being pissed off and angry about Jail Bait, things are finally starting to progress and look promising ! chrisfindlay Posted January 5, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 5, 2012 Tuesday afternoon, got my 4 speakers, headunit, subwoofer, amplifier and mono amp installed, it took about 3 1/2 hours as it was the first time ive ever installed speakers, but with the help of a mate I got it all done.. The sub and amp are in the boot (Still need to find somewhere in the boot to bolt them down permanently, but waiting to get boot carpeted first) The mono amp is on my rear parcel shelf with my 6" speakers, and my two 4" speakers fit in the front behind the original speaker housings! heres what it all looks like roughly..
