well car went on its first outing to Greazefest on the weekend and got a pretty good response from people at the show.

Didi a few final btis and pieces Saturday night and polished the shit out of the chrome and got the glass crystal clear and added some stenciling to the petrol tins on the roof.

another quick update.

Car is all registered and on the road now, yusss my new daily driver

White walls going on this weekend.

 

Hopefully have gilmer gear drive pricing this week too, all design work done just waiting on pricing from fabricators, if anyone is keen for 18rg gilmer drives let me know.

I'm getting a set for crank pulley, water pump and alternator for now, currently looking for blower to put on!!!!!!

Think ive found the one i want 2-53 Detroit blower, will run it under driven so only pushing a few psi until i blow the engine then it will be filled with forged internals ect.

 

Paint work wise I'm starting on that this week, going to be RAT as FARK hahahaha

There wont be an actual paint job, I'm going to be wet sanding it in places down to the red/brown primer to give it that real RATROD look of a neglected rusty bomb.

Also designed my logo which will be painted the drivers and passengers doors also some stickers made.

A quick up date on exterior RATROD mission with paintwork and a had a mate over with a SLR camera so we dicked around and took a few cool photos.

 

Paint work is coming along nicely think it should look pretty RATTY when I'm done which is what I'm after hahaha.

Should have the paint fully RATTED by end of weekend so can start on something else after that.

 

Hopefully have GILMERS!!!!! but playing the waiting game as the guys doing them are doing it cheap and in their spare time so will just have to wait until they can sort them for me. damn it!!!

 

Hopefully getting whitewall treatment tomorrow just waiting for my mate to confirm he can do it!!!!

 

Spun the tires in anger tonight and it loved it - just need to weld up the diff so it will spin both!

trying to find a diff that will bolt in which will be a good upgrade but doesn't need to be shortened as this car is being built on a very cheap budget.

 

My other cars are newer and cost an arm and a leg to modify.

 

Other car = RX8 just ordered aftermarket computer tuning/ re-flashing set up from states and also new body kit, cost more than ive spent buying and building this whole car hahahaha

So i blew the diff last weekend, new it would'nt last long as it is the standard rt40 piece of snot.

So tonight I removed it and welded it up so now it will be locker!!!! hahaha yusss

No sure how long it will last but will just have to wait and see

Keeping my eyes out for a diff the will fit easily enough

Anyone know of a bolt in diff set up that is a good upgrade?

I know MK2 corona diffs bolt in but are hard to find.

Also i hear alfa 105 will bolt in but also hard to find.

 

Off to wreckers tomorrow to measure up and hopefully find something that will go in.

I'm thinking of pulling the 18rg and selling ti off and building a 13 bridgport for it.

My original plan was for rotor but didnt have the coin at the time and 18Rg fell into my hands

I like the 18rg idea more. just chuck some cams in it. make it angry

Locker is in running fine no issues did about 250kms today city, highway and hill driving a couple drifts but no solid burnouts

Just going to wait till i have something decent in there before popping some tires.

 

Think i might make a jig and have a crack at shortening my own diff!!

and get some axles made to suit.

Another weekend and some more progress on RAT040

I scored a sun visor for the front which looks awesome so fitted that up and added a few personal touches to complete the rat look.

After i fitted and test drove found it need some bracing as i didnt use the middle bracket which screws into the roof thus causing it to vibrate and flap a fair bit at highway speeds.

So i used some bits in my shed and made a brace down to the window wiper panel and it looks pretty cool i think

 

Then i added the skull to the top which is also cool as fluck

 

I'm taking the beast to the Kustom karnival in brisbane at acacia ridge hotel this weekend hopefully get a good response again!!!
