74coupe Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 Hey guys, Only found some king springs to suit the ke25 but I want to lower the front about 80-90mm and the rear about 40-50mm which I can use blocks for, but the front springs I've found and tracked down are only 35-4mm lower.. What's my best options for this.. I don't want to cut the springs or any of that.. What are my best options? Located in Hastings in Vic, so even if u suggest places to go? Quote
Jono.C Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 Either get Coils made through a suspension place to the height you require. Or a weld on coilover kit.. http://www.otomoto.com.au/p/4116534/hsd-48mm-sleeve-kit.html Quote
styler Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 You can remove 1/3 of suspension travel front and rear according to the books. Aftermarket front springs are 30mm/40mm lower so they remain captive under full droop, any lower and the spring would fall out its perch when the wheel fully drops down. This can be solved with short stroke dampers but it's not always an easy job. Stiffer springs are better for reduced travel so you don't bottom out but they add to ride height as the cars weight does't compress them so much in droop. Leaf springs can have a block added but it adds to axle tramp or they can have the eyes inversed or reset lower - or both. Quote
boost Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 Hi ash I've got a ke25 thats been lowered front and back. I've got no idea how low from standard. The ride quality is shocking. I rear is lowered on blocks and looks to be around 50mm! it feels like its bottoming out. I'm currently get prices on some koni adjustables to do a full 86 conversion with coil sleeves. Quote
74coupe Posted June 10, 2012 Author Report Posted June 10, 2012 Cheers guys I would love for it to have the top of the guards flush with top of tyre lol.. But don't thing that will happen.. But by the sounds of it I can only really Dump the front 50ish mm I was hoping for 80mm with measuring it.. But yeah it will ride like shit.. The rear I only want 40-50mm so that's no drama I know how to play with the leefs and that.. Cheers for the help Quote
wagn Posted June 11, 2012 Report Posted June 11, 2012 To get any decent ride height on stock KE20 struts you will be sitting on bump stops in the front end my advice is do a strut swap with coilovers and take advantage of better shocks and brakes. Before i heavily modified my KE20 struts i had about an inch or so of shock travel before i was hitting the bump stops. Quote
74coupe Posted June 11, 2012 Author Report Posted June 11, 2012 Standard and what I would like :/ lol Quote
74coupe Posted June 11, 2012 Author Report Posted June 11, 2012 Cheers man, but would my brakes and all fit? I just spent a fortune chasing down new, calipers , backing plates and discs fOr the roady..along with strut inserts... So yeah I think I have done my self in lol Quote
