Track Ksev

Hey guys,

So last night i was thinking about building a track car, so i started looking on here, ebay and gumtree. Sent a few people messages, woke up to a few replys. Found a guy on here with a free ke70, texted a mate after by 11 o'clock we had a free car trailer lined up. We hadn't seen photos or any thing we knew it had no diff gear box or engine. We joked around saying it will be overrated an all shiny. Haha but that didn't happen it was spray painted and looking like shit in away, tail lights where tinted. started having a look around it it was straight had hardly any dents and only slight rust spots. we where going to take it either way but its worth saving. It is defected but that doesn't really matter to a degree. Plans or a little undecided expect it will have my hurricanes on it, and plan to have a rotary in it. So we spent 3 hours trying to get it on the trailer tried 6 different ways and got it half on. We got it on after a lot of effort, drove it home and got it off only toke 20 minutes.

Then started to go through the inside, smelt like rotten milk and was dry reaching materiel. Got a lot of shit out of it went through some parts got rid of a few what are trashed or not needed. Both corollas i have bought so far have had porn in haha. So don't have any really good pictures yet at a mates house at the moment until it gets a diff.

I will not be spending money on this until my panel van is back on the road and painted. Things can still be done but will be done with out needing money.

lol! Good score!

All the best race cars start like this- Its straight and its free, & you just can't beat that..

it may look rought now but its got alot of potential that's for sure.

Rotary!! Win!

been waiting for a moment for so long to be able to put a rotary in some thing, thinking a 13b bridge port.

If you can, FD 13B's have great porting from factory so no real need to port them but I would be investing in some 3mm seals so if you're getting it milled out for the 3mm's, you may aswell port it while you're at it.

If you're going turbo, a bridgeport is probably as far as you want to go.

Keen to see it happen!!!

Porting will happen any way, once I get a 13b it will be stripped down rebuilt. I haven't really thought about apex seals or any thing like that yet. I've done quite abit of research on rotarys and have quite a few books about them.

The plans are to do quite a big bridge port, run efi with itb's. I've always wanted to play around with a mega squirt, but I'll work that out when the build starts.

I also plan on doing a bit of aero work as well, I did my year 12 research project on aerodynamics of race cars. I learnt quite alot of infomation, and some pretty neat things.

I'm alittle unsure about what gear box, I think I'll want a closed set gear box but don't want to spend heaps so that might be out but bit of research and I'll figure it out.

This should be good! Making a brick aerodynamic!

haha yea i had a bit of a giggle on the way to school, after i realized that i said i think ill try a bit of aero work on a brick. There are still gains to be had though, so we will see how it goes.

Oh God, that'd sound insane. Never actually heard one on ITB's before. You shouldn't need to worry about apex seals too much with an NA motor.

Do it!!

have a read on here about half way down there's a photo. http://www.timeattackforums.com/forums/show-shine/2874-fujiracing-13b-rotary-miata-build-3.html

You still need to pick the right apex seals, there's a lot of new technology in apex seals now days. Stock apexs are good on the housing but have there draw backs. Once you start getting up in to the hard apexs you can score the housings, some also shatter in a way others just kinda deform and don't do as much damage. Its been awhile since i have read up about them so it might not be to accurate but yea if you pick right its happy braping.

Also went to my mates today had a look what i needed to get, to put the t series in to get it rolling and up to mine. I have no springs for it so hopefully i can just sit it on the bump stops. Got a few more pictures today but there nothing really to show. There wont be many up dates until its at my house and that could be up to a couple of weeks. Need to get my panel van off defect and painted before i can buy parts for this.

Every rotor owner with performance in mind has had one go pop but it's lead to alot of development.

I know of a few 13BT's on stock apex seals pushing 300hp+ and they love it. On stock porting too (series 6 and above) .Generally, if you feed them enough fuel and keep them cool enough, they'll be happy.
