T50 Shifter Onto A K50 Box

Hey guys, I have a K50 5 speed that is missing the shifter assembly.

Unfortunately I am having a dog of a time trying to find one anywhere. I have found a wreckers in SA that has a shifter assembly to suit a T50 (from a KE70) and wanted to see if anyone knew if these were able to be used on a K50 box.

I have searched all over the web for answers and can not get a definitive yes or no. Found a tonne of forums where people have wanted to fit a KE70 short shifter to a k50 or similar and have speculated that it looks like it might work and they were going to try "this weekend" but they never came back to say if it did or not.

If anyone has a T50 and K50 box they can look at and tell me if the shifter assembly is interchangeable that would be awesome

My 4 speed is the same as the one one shown as a K50 here (but i am lead to believe mine is a k40 as it is a 4 speed)

And the 5 speed is a lot bigger and has a completely different back end like this one.

I don't just need the shaft I need the whole assembly that bolts on and the 4 bolts are all about 5mm closer together on the 4 speed.

And from what i can tell I am not about to swap the back ends over.

I have read a few places that the T50 shifter assembly may fit on the K50.

The end of the T50 shaft is a bit different and the entire assembly is not as high (i assume due to the shorter shift in the KE70), but I have not seen a definitive yes or no, a bunch of guys saying they will try it but never giving an answer :(

Then again it is the interwebs so what I could be reading could all be a load of BS anyway and I may be way off the mark lol

Yeah ke55 is wrong for that box.

What type of shifter do you want? I've got a ke20 and ke70 one, they both fit. Ke70 sits dead upright, the ke20 is bent back towards the handbrake like the original ke55 one. I'd be willing to post you one if you get stuck/ I can find them

Mate i need the one to match the same rear section as the bottom pic. It is currently mounted up to a 4k and is complete bar the shifter assembly (refer pic below)

They are going into a ke55 so the shifter that bends back would be ideal.

Let me know how much you want for them and what postage would be to Sydney 2768 if you can find em

The T50 and K50 KE55 shifters are different. There is a comparison photo in this thread:

I had the same problem as you. Tried K40 shifters from KE30, KE55, and KE70. I reckon you will have to get another K50.

Yeah struggling to find one of them as well lol.

Found one in SA but he wont split the shifter off it and wants $340 for the box plus about another $150 for freight lol
