brappin Posted November 10, 2014 Author Report Posted November 10, 2014 Just getting back into this thing finally.. a few things are changing now. Ditching the factory pedals to replace them with a wilwood pedal box as theres no clearance to the carby, also 4 piston wilwood calipers all round. Been focusing on removing dents and rust over the last few weeks. Theres alot of both! Some changes coming to the rear end also. Triangulated 4 link and coil overs. I'm not sure what to do with the front end yet. Would like to replace steering with rack & pinion out of a ke70 but havent gone any further than thinking about it so far. Anyone done it before? Quote
brappin Posted May 16, 2015 Author Report Posted May 16, 2015 Rotary is gone. Have a 4agze sitting between the rails now. Plans are to freshen up the bottom end, cams and a turbo. Floor is cut out from the seat back to the boot ready to start on the 4 link and make bigger for diff/tailshaft clearance. Have bc ae86 coilovers for front end, ke70 rack and steering shaft, ke20 crossmember and some other bits to make it work. Still need ae86 hubs and steering arms to finish off. Quote

brappin Posted May 31, 2015 Author Report Posted May 31, 2015 Engine is mounted! Ill sort out a gearbox mount next weekend. Using a dellow 4age- w5* bellhousing and w58 gearbox. Should handle the power fine in something so light Quote
brappin Posted June 20, 2015 Author Report Posted June 20, 2015 More changes.. hilux diff is being changed to a borgwarner 78 (commodore/r31 diff). Smaller, lighter and still strong enough to cope with the power from the little 4agte and a much better parkbrake. Also picking up wider rear wheels next weekend, 15x10 superlites. Front 4 link crossmember is made and sitting in position in the car. I worked out and drew up my 4 link brackets and arms tonight so I can start fabricating that next weekend. Had a man come over yesterday that does dustless blasting. He has a big mobile setup which uses recycled glass and water to strip paint and filler in next to no time. Hes going to do the whole car inside/outside/underneath in spring when the weather is warmer. I already have 2 pack epoxy primer to put over the bare metal once its blasted and he mentioned I have enough for 6 cars so hes going to buy the left over off me. Quote
BUZ440 Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 The dustless blasting i have seen is rather tricky, although it's good and enviro friendly and cost effective, depending on the body can blow holes, extra care needs to be taken, won't be a problem if your guy has done lots of cars Quote
brappin Posted June 22, 2015 Author Report Posted June 22, 2015 Our old cars a made of real steel haha. The only thing he didnt want to do was the back of the bonnet and boot. Just because the media gets in behind and is a bitch to get out again. He seemed like a pretty switch on old dude and was confident he could do the car without any issues! I made up my diff brackets last night after spending saturday night measuring, weighing drawing it up. For shocks I wanted to use viking double adjustable but suppliers only have one in stock in the length I wanted so probably gonna have to go with qa1's. Not really a bad thing because I know theyre a really good product. So i should have them here for the weekend! I'm loving the progress I'm making on this little car after barely looking at it for ages. I don't think the wife is as stoked Quote
