Hey lads, looking at buying a very cheap set of 2k old forged pistons with scores on the piston crown and skirt.Wondering on how detrimental this is on its efficiency and reliability, the ad states.... " Some scratches on the side of the crowns (see pics). Crowns are 86mm (very typical for after market pistons to use 1mm undersized crown diameter), so the scratches could be buffed out (they normally don't touch the bore anyway). Only very minor scuffing on the skirts (very typical, no gouges".

I have been contemplating ceramic coating but otherwise would I get away with a very light sand and could I bolt this in?? Any advice would be good. Are there tricks out there or do I steer clear?? Thanks

Grab them-

if you're reboring out to that size have them polished down a few thou and you can knock that off the bore size. You'll only see how bad the scratching is when you hold them in your hands.

I can resize them down to 85.5 if you want. But getting rings for them is going to fun! The yanks run some really funny ring thicknesses, if the rings aren't in stock they'll be a 4-6 week wait.

From the photos they appear to have done way more than 2k, or been in a significant failure. Why has has he pulled down a built motor?

This is a 3T engine your building right? How much you decked off your head? They are going to be stupid low comp otherwise!
