madkp61 Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 what sort of toyotas have 4age motors that will fit into my ke70 wagon? Quote
It's_AUDM_Yo Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) All 4AGEs will "fit" The AE86 and AA63 are the only car that has the intake manifold facing the correct way. All other 4AGEs need their manifolds cut'n'shut and need rwd water outlets or modified ones. So 1.6l twin cam Corolla's from AE82-AE110 edit: from wikipedia AA63 Carina 1983.06–1985 (Japan only) AT160 Carina 1985–1988 (Japan only) AT171 Carina 1988–1992 (Japan only) AA63 Celica 1983.08–1985 AT160 Celica 1985–1989 AE82 Corolla saloon, FX 1984.10–1987 AE86 Corolla Levin 1983.05–1987 AE92 Corolla 1987–1993 AT141 Corona 1983.10–1985 (Japan only) AT160 Corona 1985–1988 (Japan only) AW11 MR2 1984.06–1989 AE82 Sprinter 1984.10–1987 (Japan only) AE86 Sprinter Trueno 1983.05–1987 (Japan only) AE92 Sprinter 1987–1992 (Japan only) AE86/AE92 Corolla GLi Twincam/Conquest RSi 1986–1993 (South Africa) Chevrolet Nova (based on Corolla AE82) Geo Prizm GSi (based on Toyota AE92 chassis) 1990–1992 Edited December 4, 2012 by It's_AUDM_Yo Quote
madkp61 Posted December 5, 2012 Author Report Posted December 5, 2012 I've seen a ae101 silvertop motor if I was to get it would it have to be cut and shut? If so how much does that cost? Quote
19914afc Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 ae101 has ITB's, do don't need to cut and shut manifold, but is the more expensive way of going 4age, if you want an engine upgrade tell us how much money you have to spend? You should allow around 5K to do the engine swap if you can do it yourself. Some people have done it cheaper, others have cost more so don't bother telling me you got an engine for 1k and that was all you had to buy. Then allow another about another 2-3k for suspension and brake upgrades. Quote
altezzaclub Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 if you want an engine upgrade tell us how much money you have to spend? and tell us what experience you have in engine conversions.. Its a LOT cheaper if you can do the work yourself. Quote
Willis Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 (edited) I've seen a ae101 silvertop motor if I was to get it would it have to be cut and shut? If so how much does that cost? If you want to keep an airbox and plenum then you might need to cut it up a bit. Velocity stacks and slip on filters look alot cooler. And sound awesome. Silvertops are AFM though so if you want to run no airbox, you'll need to go aftermarket ECU aswell. 20v's are more expensive for sure but do make more power from factory. I think if you plan on spending a bit of money on a 16v, you may aswell go 20v to start with. Gain that extra power from the get go. People will say a 16v has more potential but within a realistic budget, I think 20v is the go. Edited December 19, 2012 by Willis Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Silvertops are AFM though so if you want to run no airbox, you'll need to go aftermarket ECU aswell. Fairly sure you can run a silvertop with open trumpets if you use a blacktop ECU, MAP sensor and a few other things, cheaper/more reliable than aftermareket Quote
Willis Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) Heard of people doing that before. If I had the money to spare, I'd go aftermarket for sure. Get a good tune, go COP. That's another option though. Edit: Or start with a blacktop Edited December 20, 2012 by Willis Quote
