74shaun Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 (edited) hi guys, bought myself a fairly tidy ke20 with a t50 4age conversion. has rust in the usual places but nothing too serious running stock brakes and diff. have decided that i want the project to be a little more ballzy than the 4age so am going to put a ca18det in instead, due to the stronger gearbox, easy power upgrades and cost and ease of finding parts. have the car stripped right back at the moment doing bodywork ready for a respray. will be converting to ae86 coilovers in the front with and a shortened r31 diff up back. going to keep the interior as stock as possible . High-Roller Posted May 27, 2013 Report Posted May 27, 2013 Would be good to see this get done, good luck mate. she'll go like a rocket. Quote
untubbed_20 Posted May 28, 2013 Report Posted May 28, 2013 if you have not much mechanical knowledge, you are far better of turboing or 4agze/turbo what your have...otherwise it will be a HUGE moneypit..lol Ca's aren't that great/pistons are weak standard cheers darren Quote
LukeAE71 Posted May 28, 2013 Report Posted May 28, 2013 A 4age in a ke20 would be more than adequate. Add some cams or something for more grunt. At least it will still be driveable. There is such a thing as too much power Quote
mac_ke20 Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 wanted it to be more of a project so there is not much fun in leaving it how it is. gotta waste money on something :) Quote
74shaun Posted June 25, 2013 Author Report Posted June 25, 2013 just some update pics of the ke. stripped the shell back to bare metal (not fun) and sprayed with etch primer. test fitted shortened r31 borg warner and reset leafs. pulled out 4age and gearbox. have ke20 camber tops, ae86 steering arms to be fitted and ae86 coilovers and willwood big brake kit in the mail :) 1 Quote
flawless-paint Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Hey mate message me if u get stuck on the ae86 front end bits, they're not a direct bolt in . And get ready to spend a fair amount of money on this conversion. Have u got a spray painter in mind already to paint the car and what colour are u going ? Quote

I know it's going to cost a lot but I'm prepared for that so having a budget is pretty much a waste of time. Going to go the original colour again and don't have anything organised as far a spraying it goes. Quote
74shaun Posted August 30, 2014 Author Report Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) haven't put anything up on my project for a while so thought i would put some pics up of whats been going on most are pretty self explanatory. the rust repair panels were from rare spares. Taz_Rx Posted August 30, 2014 Report Posted August 30, 2014 Hey mate,I got a t25/28 outlet like that one. I recessed the Allen key bolts halfway down into the flange so you can push a house the whole way over it, suggest doing the same ;) Quote
74shaun Posted August 30, 2014 Author Report Posted August 30, 2014 thanks for the tip mate. handy to know :) Quote
