Redwarf Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 (edited) A small price to pay if you want to stay legal and be covered by insurance. I think you'll find that most of the engineering can be done by phone, and then present the car for final inspection when you happen to be in the same place. I had a car engineered in Victoria (where the car was rego'd) whilst I lived in QLD. Everything is possible, you just have to put your mind to it. You live in Tamworth, I'm sure there's an engineer closer than Sydney to you. Edited May 14, 2006 by Redwarf Quote
Trent-KE30 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Aight, All i heard was that a decent RTA approved engineer was down Sydney way, how much was it to get your car engineered RD? Trent Quote
pozman Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 its different in most states, in qld its $110 for first one and then $10 for every extra one, i had my pulsar engineered with turbo conversion and auto to manuel conversion for a grand to of $120, but in vic and mosty likely nsw its alot dearer, a got a quote on one just to pull the back seat out on my corolla, and that was around $400 in vic Quote
Redwarf Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 You need an engineers to pull the back seat in Vic?? I just rolled up to Vicroads, told them it was a two seater, the man looked at the car, saw it wasn't going back in in a hurry, and changed the paperwork. Things must have changed. I can't really give a good figure on what it's worth, as I didn't pay full price for either my Vic or Qld reports. I will confirm that the Vic one was more expensive. R Quote
pozman Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 You need an engineers to pull the back seat in Vic?? yeah i asked vic roads and they said i needed one, so it stays in now Quote
Raven Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 To swap in an engine that puts out moer power e.g. 4AGZE into a KE30 you'd be looking at a lane change test, torsion test, emissions test, brake upgrade, chassis strangthening. Worked out that if most of the work was done yourself, you'd get away with $1200 to get it engineered here in Adelaide. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 I don't think you need a brake upgrade, well at least not here in Canberra....All you need to do is pass the brake test. My friend has a KE30 with a nice 4AGZE in it, and it has factory KE30 brakes all round. And it is fully engineered. Quote
