September 29, 200620 yr comment_143756 It came with the 2S 2.0L engine (SA63) or the 22R 2.4L engine (RA65) according to drive.com.au Report
September 30, 200620 yr comment_143783 Just a note, the BEAMS never came out in the IS200, only the Toyota Altezza (same shape, but different model). The IS200 had the 1GFE 2.0L straight 6 in it. Report
September 30, 200620 yr Author comment_143800 I know its an 84 model and I know it has a 3S in it. I am just thinking that they put a newer engine in to the old celica, but reading what nick posted above answers half my question now I have to find out the exact model of the car. when did celica's go to front wheel drive? From what I have been reading its around 1989, and that leads me to think the 3S is out of a front wheel drive version. Report
September 30, 200620 yr comment_143922 It was well before 1989 that the Celica went FWD. I thought the first models were released in about 84/85. Obviously there will be some RWD models from the year while the changeover took place. The first three models of Celica were RWD, and all the rest FWD (with a couple of AWD's in the mix). Report

October 2, 200620 yr comment_144150 MR2's were RWD. Just not the kind of RWD that is of any use for this discussion. Report
