zmit Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 hey guys, does anyone know about the swift gti drivetrain, eg wheelbase and track etc. and whether it would fit in an ae82? just had a strap in a heavily modified ae82 hatch and thought it would be awesome with AWD Quote
Des Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 Making a ae82 into awd will cost you shit loads as in braceing for the arse end, Matching up suspension components, The drive train price, Mod plates might be a bitch to get. I know of a guy who made a nissan pulsar vector into awd and paid just over 15k to get it done by someone else. Quote
zmit Posted October 3, 2006 Author Report Posted October 3, 2006 ouch. bit expensive. it was just a thought i had after a cruise in a rather interesting ae82  any 4wd systems that would have the same wheelbase and track as a ae82 hatch? Quote
NoPsi Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 If you want an awd system go buy a car that already has one. It is a complete waste of time and money to change a car that never came out with it. I am also assuming you don't weld or grind yourself and therefore you will need to pay someone. I charge $70 an hour to do that sort of thing and you would be looking at probably about a weeks worth of work on top of buying and sourcing all your parts.. Quote

Des Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 If you want a small awd hatch get yourself a suzuki swift rally edition. Quote
zmit Posted October 6, 2006 Author Report Posted October 6, 2006 ok. yeah luke, its urs. I'm not thinking about doing it myself, i was just getting ideas and being realistic about it. is there a problem with expanding my understanding? Quote
ancullen Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Why would you want Swuft GTi drivetrain in a Corolla? If you mean the engine, there's no point as it's only a 1300 (the G13B) and a 4A-GE can easily make more power. If you mean the gearbox and stuff, the GTi only came in FWD. Quote

GTi Cultus :2thumbs: Well, that's what I think Tim was referring to anyway. Quote
zmit Posted October 7, 2006 Author Report Posted October 7, 2006 yeah. whatever the gti cultus is :2thumbs: not exclusively the swift, i know the 4age is more capable. i was just thinking about an awd system. but it seems that luke has already thought about it :n: Quote
