beerhead Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 Just wondering if anyone can tell me which steering arm's I'll need to install my AE86 coilovers. I've got some KE55 and corona ones atm, the KE55 ones are the wrong size, not sure about the corona ones cause they're on the car, does anyone know if KE70 ones a match? Or do I need to score some AE86 factory ones ? Quote
Medicine_Man Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 As far as I am aware KE70 is completely different to AE86 otherwise everyone would be using them.. Quote
thomo Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 ke30 through ke70 and ae71 all the same, corona 1.5 mm wider spacing on the hole centers, no idea on the AE86 (88mm center to center on the KE before you ask) Quote
beerhead Posted October 4, 2006 Author Report Posted October 4, 2006 Ah crap, by the looks I will need some AE86 ones. I just checked and coilovers appear to have holes 1.5mm narrower than the KE55!! Murphy strikes again, no new suspension for me yet  Quote
Raven Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 (edited) Try RA40 or RA60 Celica ones.... Edited October 4, 2006 by Raven Quote
beerhead Posted October 4, 2006 Author Report Posted October 4, 2006 Ah cheers I'll head down the wreckers tomorrow with a trusty measuring tape. I think celica ones will be a tad easier to source than sprinter ones. Quote
Raven Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 I know they're both different spacing, but I think you'll have more success with one or the other than trying to find AE86 ones. Quote
beerhead Posted October 10, 2006 Author Report Posted October 10, 2006 Finished the front end today. Turned out the AE86 and Corona steering arms have identical stud width, so the job went smoother than I could have planned. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Should find a place in the FAQ to add it.. Quote
Raven Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 (edited) How far off were the Celica ones? Edited October 10, 2006 by Raven Quote
beerhead Posted October 10, 2006 Author Report Posted October 10, 2006 I didn't end up getting a set of celica ones, I knew a guy who was wrecking a sprinter and picked up a set of AE86 ones. I'm pretty sure the celica ones will be the same though, I'll go measure some next time I'm at the wreckers, maybe someone has some lying around? Quote
anastasios Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 hey mate did you have any problems bolting the caliper into the brake line, mines not going in smoothly and i don't want to thread 86 calipers, did you use ra40 rack ends with ra40 tierod ends aswell? Quote
beerhead Posted October 11, 2006 Author Report Posted October 11, 2006 The brakes I had came with lines, so I just left the sprinter ones on. They bolted straight to the KE55 connector on the inner guard. I didn't fit the corona struts to my car, it was done when I bought it, but I'm pretty sure the RA40 parts are what most people use. Demuire did all the mod's on my car before I got it. I know someone who may have a set of AE86 brake lines if you're keen. Quote
