camerondownunder88 Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 COMMIT PEOPLE... if I'm coming up to lights and to fast I say 3 second rule before other lights change and commit. Pump the right foot and go and sucks as all the insurance places say u hit them so u pay. SUCKS. This happened to a friend of mine had the nicest WB holden ute V8 all done up yada yada. So a little old lady was driving on high way and just after a merge where my friend got on she decided to all of a sudden apply her brakes hard and my friend just merged onto the highway and since he was speeding up quickly couldn't stop after he slipped in behind her and he in turn hit her then a semi truck couldn't stop and went into him writing off the car. His ute since he runs his own business was full of tools so it had about a tonne of weight in it and it also wrote her car off but it put him out of business for a while while he had to get another ute. Lucky he was ok but the ute was about the length of a Mazda 121 bubble after it was all over. Similar thing happened to me but I was reversed into and didn't have to pay so I got a KE55 bonnet on my car now. So one good thing came from my crash. But it was crap not having a car for a while to get around. Cameron Quote
Redwarf Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Cameron, did you know that it is illegal to go through a yellow light if you have the ability to stop? Too Quick, I hate to say it, but put it down to lesson learnt. you'd have stopped quicker if you hadn't locked up, but that's an experience thing..... Quote

Yeah, I had a chat to irokin about braking style's and I'm thinking about a defensive driving course once the fines are gone and i get my license back. :y: Quote

casey Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 surly that would void the insurance or somthing? Quote
Des Posted October 10, 2006 Author Report Posted October 10, 2006 (edited) What insurance i can't afford that shit. Edited October 10, 2006 by too quick Quote
Redwarf Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 I need a bigger booster i think cause only the front locked up? Nope. Not necessarily. In times of entertainment, I can lock up wheels individually. How can you tell you only locked up fronts? Because of weight transfer the rears wouldn't have been doing much anyway. Quote
Des Posted October 10, 2006 Author Report Posted October 10, 2006 Cause i was chatting to the ped who saw me lock em up. I have alot bigger rotors and calipers and still have the original ae82 booster so...... Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 yes I do know going through a yellow light is illegal if you can stop but some times well you probably could stop but just to save braking hard just power on through. But I never power through when I need to turn at lights only straigh ahead as turning becomes to dangerous and can't do it as fast. Cameron Quote

SoulSearcher Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 did you know that if the lights are changing and someone is on your tail you can go through as it'd be more dangerous to hit the brakes and possibly cause an accident. As for locking up, my dad always told me, if you're braking hard, lift your heel. Try it, the weight transfer by lifting your heel stops the slide/locking up etc., Lesley :y: Quote
