3k Engines - What Does It Mean??
Corolla Test Pilot replied to Raven's topic in Automotive Discussion
Mine is a 3k-h, dunno if its a sporty variant or not, but its pretty fit for a k motor: it'll chirp first.lol. -
Off topic or not, I have nfi, but whatever. People, should I turn to the dark side, and buy a '79 'Sud ti? I know it would be stupid, it would leak oil, water, fuel, it would snap parts that don't even have names in English, I would have to sweep away the pile of rust it left every morning, ad infinitum. But I waaannt iiittt!!!!! It would be so sexy, and so fun to drive. And it only costs $1100...

Yeah, a little bit of MASSIVE AXLE TRAMP never hurt anyone.

And verily, he avoided roundabouts for ever and ever, amen.

What Rims Are These? ... Magenta Ke30
Corolla Test Pilot replied to Dyzza's topic in Automotive Discussion
Hmmm... The higher the aspect ratio of your tyres, basically, the softer ride they will provide. This is simply because there is a larger cushion of air between road and rim. However, this is making the assumption that all other variables are the same. Tyre pressure has a massive impact on this factor; higher pressure=less compliance in the cushion of air=rougher ride. Another variable is the quality of the tyre. A higher quality tyre will likely offer a rougher ride, due to more plies in the sidewall, as a opposed to the single nylon ply found in shitty chinese tyres. More plies means less flex in the sidewall of the tyre under heavy lateral loads, such as those experienced in hard cornering. Flex is bad because it causes distortion of the tread face, which means far less ability to disperse water, and a smaller contact patch with the road. Rolling a tyre off the rim is likely to occur in older cars (like ours), with supensions that place undue loads on the outside front tyres, which have been specified by the manufacturer with high (75 and higher) aspect ratios, low speed ratings(meaning less rigid under load) and low pressures(such as the 24psi specified in my ke30's owners manual). These specifications are usually a measure to compensate for the poor bump absorption qualities of their primitive suspensions, performance was not a priority. However, us 'rolla drivers can usually get away with just putting about 30psi in them, 'cos a 900kg car isn't much stress on a modern tyre, no matter what brand. What Is Wrong With People Today?
Corolla Test Pilot replied to Biggo's topic in Automotive Discussion
Well my ke30 copped a recore bout a month ago, $210 from Natrad in Bundaberg. Tectaloy(?) ultra heavy duty antiboil antifreeze was on special $6 for 5L at Repco, so now I can kid myself that its safe for me to keep it pinned at its indicated 157~8Km/h top speed for 10 mins at a time. Heh. Although that black gold that keeps everything safely sliding past each other tends to try and escape from the head gasket when given a sustained thrashing like that. She does stay icy cool though. -
Yeah...fun... Like taking a bath with a toaster is fun.

And just think, the Lotus Elise is supposed to be a featherweight with only 950kg to lug around. Imagine if japanese manufacturers in the 70's had all that FRP goodness to build rollas with. bodyweights around 250~300kg's?

Scratch all my previous posts in this thread. My dream corolla would simply never ever encounter any form of law enforcement. Or troublesome traffic/pedestrians/roadkill/potholes on the exits of blind corners just screaming to be apexed.

Precisely why I specified a multiplate jobbie. squeaky brakes I can live with, adds to its sleepiness. And you forgot having to heat the oil to around 100C before you dare start the thing.

How Sexy Is Your Car
Corolla Test Pilot replied to ke70pussywagon's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
If youse guys can get laid properly in an old 'rolla, ur better athletes than I. Or you just don't need as much room to move. -
Start with 4x4 'rolla wagon. Full camo paint. 18" lift, 24" track kit 36" Mud Terrains, on hugely dished 26" chrome. 454 big block, 'Cruiser diffs, 'box. Mack truck bullbar, with razor wire trimming, chromed. 3 x radio aerials, that look like they got lost on their way to the set of a German porno(real phat, real long). 15 x billion candlepower spotties. Rear converted into machine gun turret, banked in by 10 x 18"subwoofers. Front seats replaced by LayZBoys trimmed in the hides of week old bilbys. Endorsed by 50 cent.

Which brings up an interesting question... If Toyota chose to confirm it's position as most great, worthy and godlike of manufacturers, and put up motorshow stand "Ye Olde Fantasie Corollas", would any of us cheapskates shell out and buy "our" concepts after they'd done the show circuit? By the way, Tiger, you should shoot one of them electronic mail thingumys to Yankee Toyota HQ, they'd have a better hope of showing up at SEMA.

Its the macho car! Find yourselves an 80's Wheels magazine and check the ads for the T-18. Gold. Even funnier when you take into account the mammoth fisting the poor macho 'rolla received from the media. Those Malaysian(?) drifters give some idea of their machismo potential though.
-
Well, why do you think they're poor? Got shit 4 brains, thats why. A fun game is to put out a whole heap of real good shit, hide in some bushes, and shoot people that come too close with poisoned blowdarts. Have to clear the bodies though, or they stop coming.

Ceramic rotors, four piston calipers all round, all black. Carbon boot, bonnet, doors in matt black(to stop doof doof kiddies juicing themselves all over it). Dechromed, except for bumpers and 'yota badge on rear. On its ass, coil overs all round. TRD LSD, with carbon housing. Carbon 'shaft. 6speed 'box(maybe from MX-5?), with carbon housing. Multi-plate clutch, carbon flywheel. 4agze, dry sumped, with carbon sump and intake, titanium exhaust dumping out the side. Oh yeah, and its driving a gnarly bitch GMC 14/71 hangin out the bonnet! Hehe, joke.

New Licences For 4WD Owners
Corolla Test Pilot replied to wilson_610's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
I voted yes, however I believe that all of our licensing standards are too low. The main problem isn't the vehicles themselves, but the frustrated, inconsiderate ignoramuses that have them as their preferred mode of transport. For example, the vacuous old whores that the world knows as "soccer moms"(sic) that revel in the isolation of sitting nice and high, and thus consider it their sovereign right to plough through give way signs, hog the right lane, "merge" at random, and practically tear chunks out of the bitumen dry steering in shopping centre car parks. As far as the vehicles themselves are concerned, we're kidding ourselves if we honestly think our vintage corollas stop, go or hang on through corners as well as a new soft-roader would. 155/75R13's, drum brakes and boosters smaller than CD's just don't compare. -
Thats pretty criminal. But if you wanna really rile up a bogan, call their Fairlane a Fairmont.
-
Meh. I shouldn't even have to worry about price: my reward should be commensurate with the service to humanity I've performed via the elimination of the Telstar driver. And MY 4A-GE wouldn't bother with such trivialities as air restrictors or rev limiters. "Why rice when you can race."
-
Oh, we want details. Naturally aspirated +300hp Formula Atlantic TRD motor. Sequential 6speed. Independent rear end, coilovers all round. Hydraulic hand brake. So much for the $20k limit. But yeah RollaGirl, I only really need what I can't buy: S-K-I-L-L.
-
Yes, you may remember me from such great threads as "Some Strocker Driving Noob". I drive a beautifully original KE30 SE sedan, occasionally far faster than my ability/its ability/a normal instinct of self preservation should allow.

I'm a dispassionate bastard, so I always called the old girl 781JCU, but my boss christened it The Yellow Terror. He shat when he saw me driving to work some day. Apex one little corner, and all of a sudden you're a danger to society! Couldn't have been going that fast, had to use third ferchrissakes!

The Slothmobile Has Been Violated
Corolla Test Pilot replied to Sloth's topic in Automotive Discussion
What kind of busted arse idiot needs to smash a window to break into an old rolla? Hunt them down and cut their nuts off!
