  1. Hi Guys, I have had a look around on the nets about going 4AFC (in my AE92 Corolla Hatch) to 4AGE from a wrecked Corolla. Sadly i missed out on getting a wrecked one with working engine/trans for $300 but that's another story. My question is if i take the entire wiring harness from a 4AGE Corolla and replace mine with it what other wiring is there left for me to do? I read something about needing a Open Circuit relay for the fuel pump but if i'm right i won't need it because I'm taking the entire wiring harness... is this correct? Cheers, Jacob.
  2. Hey Everyone, I am new to the Corolla world and i require a tad bit of help... I have a central locking kit that i purchased for $40 AUD My deleima is that there is no location where i can mount the Actuators easily... From what i understand, i need to mount the actuators inside the door panel.. and to do this i need to hold the actuators inside the door and drill from the outside into the actuator mounting holes, not even the metal brackets that come with it to hold it in place will get in there as i can't get my hand drill or anything into the door to drill it in.. Does anyone who has an AE92 have central locking on here? if so, could you please PM me so we can discuss it further? Thank you for your time.
  3. Hey All, I popped open my distributor cap and inside was oil.. in the cap and in the distributor side that attaches to the engine. I have read a lot about it being an interior seal but could someone please tell me specific instructions for a 4A-FC engine with a bosch dizzy? I have searched around but no luck only 4A-GE engine :(
  4. thank you anyway your response is greatly appreciated
  5. Shit, my alt kicked it on the way home today.. had to change it with the 70A i bought not long ago.. however, i will keep this in mind if this "new" (3 month old one) dies.. thank you !!
  6. Sparks are fine just changed 2 weeks ago.. Okay, i found my issue, the choke cable(i think) had a lot of slack in it same with the throttle cable, so i tightened them up.. this is when my problems started.. so i returned them back to normal today and turned the thumb screw kind of knob thing on the back of the engine which is the actual idle adjustment and turned it up a bit .. went for a 2 hour drive and it was fixed..
  7. Hey Guys, I am new to the forum so please be patient as i am just learning about Corolla's.. Recently, I the battery light in my AE92 Corolla Hatch has been coming on infrequently, for example, i went to lunch today and it came on for a second then went off.. I have upgraded "the big 3" - Battery pos > Alt pos, Battery neg > chasis and Chasis > engine block with 0 Gauge power wire and fused the Alt pos to batt pos.. yet still i am getting the light .. I have also bought a new battery and changed the terminals completely I am a tad worried one day it will just kick the bucket.. The current alternator is 50A and the one that was in there before that died was also 50A .. I have a 70A alternator sitting on my bench at home and was wondering if there is anything else to do besides change the alternator first ? or do you all agree it is either the alternator/ regulator (or rectifier depending on what you all call it)? The engine is a 4AFC (Carburetor) with A/C etc etc etc I have noticed when i meter the battery while idling with the A/C on and pretty much everything it VERY rapidly drops to well below 13 Volts .. this obviously is not normal so is it just the piss weak alternator causing this ? I was told the non A/C versions of my car had a 50A stock alt whereas the A/C versions have a 70A..
  8. Hi all, i have posted a few times about this issue but my seal is leaking as well i think.. inside my Dizzy there is oil pooling in the bottom.. is this the same issue ? if so, can someone please explain how to fix this to me ? Please ? thank you
  9. I am having the same issue but in my AE92 4AFC - Have you found a solution yet ? I also notice that when i shut off the car when it is idling high it stutters when its shut down for a second or even less then when i go to start it again later it is a real pain .. i have to put my boot into it and turn the key.. i noticed if it is idling high like this as i put it into park with the car in park and hand brake on i rev the car reasonably high and it stops.. any ideas?
  10. Hey, I am having a problem where by say in the morning i start the car, by the time i get to work (25 minutes later) put it in park and it revs higher than it originally did in the morning.. turn it off and it stutters and shakes . Next time i start the car it is really really hard to start, to start it i have to put my foot flat to the floor then turn the key.. Normally it is just start and take off (ofcourse let it warm up a bit first) but still... If i stop the car and it is idling high, i put my foot flat to rev it release and the idle returns to normal.. any ideas? It struggles to start after it stutters when key is removed all the time unless i put my boot in it.. any ideas guys ? I am new to the forum though so sorry if i am a nooooooob..
  11. Thank you, could you please also tell me how to change this o-ring and where i would buy it ?

  15. Hey everyone, As stated in a previous thread, i am new to this forum and new to the world of AE92 Corolla's (Recently purchased mine) The car: 1991 AE92 Toyota Corolla. 4AFC 1.6l Carburetor Engine - 201,000 on the clock owned by a pensioner. The problems: So, I was hoping anyone could shed some light on a few problems that i have noticed with my Corolla - If it is too much trouble/work/$$$ then i will sell it within the next 6 months otherwise, if it is not going to break the bank and not going to be too much trouble i will keep her till she kicks the bucket. First problem: I am not sure if the timing needs to be done however, i was hoping someone could please tell me how i can tell if it needs to be done? Second Problem: As i drive along above 80Km/H i notice the car to become a bit shaky, from what i understand, this is the wheel bearings. Could someone please tell me how i can change these in my Corolla. if it matters, the front brakes are Disc, the back Drum. Third Problem: The car has manual steering (no P/S) and as i turn i notice a sort of clicking/clunking sound sometimes, again from what i understand, this is the CV joints that need replacing and again, could someone please shed some light on this ? Fourth Problem: I took off my Distributor cap the other day and noticed some oil pooling in the bottom of it, i assume there is a seal that needs replacing. Could someone please again help with how to replace this and where to get the seal? FINAL problem.. For now: I looked at my Rocker cover the other day and it has a TINY bit of oil seeping from it, so I have decided to change it, i know how to do this (Although have never done it personally before) . Is there any tips for doing this? Thank you for your time and i appreciate all responses as this helps me get closer to my goal of having a somewhat good as new Corolla that is practically problem free until i get rid of it or until it kicks the bucket. Thank you again.
  16. I know it is a bit old, but if you need the diagram still PM me and i will take a photo of mine that is in my AE92 and send it to you ?
  17. Hey everyone, I am new to this site and also new to Corolla's. I recently purchased an AE92 Corolla, opened up the radiator cap and to my avail, it was brown and watery, not green like coolant at all!!! I changed the coolant, flushed it with water but i am regretting not using a commercial additive to flush it out. Summer is a few months away and i do not want my car to overheat, So my question to you all is, should i have used a commercial additive ? If so, what would you recommend? and, would it be worth changing my thermostat? again, if it is, could someone please explain how to do this? Specs of the car is; 1991 AE92 Corolla SE - 4AFC (Carburetor engine).
  18. I second this, the cigarette lighter cannot supply enough voltage and enough current to sufficiently power a subwoofer amplifier. Purchase some good quality 8 gauge wire or larger gauge (4Gauge / 2Gauge etc.) depending on the power of the amp and run it to the battery of your car propperly but please note that not all cars are made to handle aftermarket audio systems. To save money manufacturers use the bare minimal in cars therefore most stock electrical systems cannot deal with it. Hence why my alternator in my AE92 kicked the bucket a few months back.
