Some vanity shots, the daily wheels are back on for daily duties and the KU36's have now worn out :) Put new driveshafts in, theyre both reco'd AE92 SX items (sorry only got one pic) And some better piccies of the catch can and motor... Id rather not say the exact cost, but the car has more than tripled in price... Hmm... I think you would be better off with a 7AFE as the auto will need more torque and less revs. A 7AFE in one of these would move especially if you up the compression a bit more :) I wont be going down the Forced induction route, I love the responsiveness of the motor all too much, and the smallport is a fair bit quicker than the bigport, and there are still a few mods to come on it :) Ill probably go forced in the next project ;)

General way us FWD guys go about modifying these is suspension/coilovers>wheels/tyres>rear swaybar>engine mods. (20V blacktop from an AE111?) For the brakes, the car has got good calipers and disks already, some better bads would be great :) Since its your first car just keep it simple, as things can get expensive very quickly, as I have discovered... mine was supposed to be a budget car :P Theyre a nice car man! yours is no exception :) PS: 7AFE's sound awesome with a pod filter :D

Rollaclub 1/4 Mile And Track Times Discussion
Subaru_kid replied to mikeys toy's topic in Motorsport
Did a 1:49.5990 in my AE82 around winton. First time out, unhealthy 4AGE running KU36 tyres. I should shave a fair bit off of that next time I'm out there ;) -

Will be there :) -
There is June, September, Cup day and the 2 days in December aswell. It was covered in the first email this year from them. I'm not going to come to this track day, but I will be there in June! :)

hahaha shuddup! :P Well the lines are all sorted and are all brand new, just the reservoir leaks now, I may invest in a PS cooler aswell to help it leak less when it boils on the track. Yeah it is :D I'm stoked with how good a daily it is when in street form, with the daily rims on and the full interior its a pretty comfy car even with the coilies. I got a 1:49 before with the stocko bigport and KU36's, plus the car still had AC in it. SO it now has more power, less weight, more grip, a few more suspension mods since then, so it should have dropped the time a bit.. plus some more things coming will help too ;) S'all good mate! :)

I thought about taking the PS out and was just about to till the rack i had sourced didnt end up coming through. Problem with the manual rack is that it is a slower ratio, so you have to work harder and turn more which i am not happy doing. And with the 205's on it is heavy enough with power steering already. Well there will be a few more things coming before i hit the track again... just gotta make room in the budget for it... I think as it stands (minus the reliability issues) I would get a mid 47... with semis and a few more things who knows? ;)

Yeah, pretty much have to change everything :P Driveshafts are completely shot, i picked some up today and ill change it tomorrow. Clutch slave will be changed tomorrow, because it died. I think i found out why the sump is leaking... will be maybe tomorrow if i get around to it. I need to source a new power steering reservoir to stop some of the leaking. Needs a new timing belt, which will be done in 2 weeks time. Pretty much all my problems should be gone in the next few weeks... the bad ones will be done tomorrow :) Buy your misses her own car, get one of these for yourself... theyre cheap enough to do so ;)

Looks good! But, you should invest in a heavier gear knob. Mines a 440g skunk2 item and everyone who tries it out trips out by how smooth and direct it feels compared to stock or not having one on there. People love touching my knob.

Does anyone know of any manual ae82s at any wrecker?
-
Recently bought some of these for a cheap price from a Honderp driver They are Toyo R888's and apparently only used for 2 track days... See? still a fair bit of tread left :) I installed my catch can not too long ago... *Le ugly engine bay pic* So once i get this car's reliability woes sorted, I'm aiming for a 1:46'er at Winton in June if the weather permits :D

Update: Driveshaft is poo and clicking a bit too much now, it will have to wait till wednesday Clutch is poo because leaking clutch slave/piston and hence i have no clutch pedal feel and its causing some crunching Got all the bits just have to nurse it till i can change them over. Catch can is installed, and i should probably say some good news in this thread... and thanks guys! ill look into it :D

Sniff it. If you see elephants its fine, if said elephants talk to you dump it... ;)

Thanks! I was near Warbuton, on Mt Donna Buang Thanks for the compliments man! :) Possibly, but I'm pretty sure there are only 2 or 3 AE82's and mine is the only one on the road so its an unfair statement :P Agreed!! so unpredictable.. srsly, snow in early Autumn?! lol

I'm not going tomorrow, I didnt get the car ready on time :(

-
Shame! Next time I will be able to head up will be the June Tampered day, ill send you the details closer to then. ;)

Did a fair bit on the car today. Raised it 15mm and now handles exceptionally well!! Car feels natural around corners, really neutral and i don't have to turn the steering wheel as much as i used to when it was low. Also changed the oil in the motor, runs so much smoother now, and I changed the gearbox oil to some Western Oil SynGear 75-90 and man is it changing slick Car is heaps better compared to this morning :) I have a surprise coming soon aswell :D
-
Awesome! more the merrier its going to be really tight to get my car ready in time but i think i will make it :)

Hey guys, I'm going to try to head out to Winton again on Friday the 13th of April (ooh scary!) If anyone would like to come up to race its $120 from memory with no timing, but alot of track time compared to other track days i have heard. What you need: - long sleeves, enclosed shoes and helmet etc. - fire extinguisher - AASA or Cams licence (AASA available on the day for $50) - A car would be nice to have aswell :P What you want: - A laptimer - No BHG's :P Any extra info is on the winton raceway website.
