  1. Hey guys, I have good news and bad news Bad news is that I am parting out the AE82 Good news is that I am on to bigger and better (faster) things with the new daily :) For sale thread going up shortly for all the bits
  2. So today I started prepping this for June 2... 8) Pretty much everything under the dash is coming out, and I have to sort out those pesky oil leaks! 1. Yes, I opted to swap it out for stock suspension not to disturb my setup too much. 2. I did. 3. It needed to pass pits to go back on the road, I got a loooong list from RWC to fix and it wouldnt have passed pits even with a dodgy LOL Still saving for a daily, parents have been gracious enough to lend me a car for now :)
  3. Got a 45.1 last time on a real hot day Best time so far was 1:44.4420 on A048s
  4. Nice job on the time, I need to lift my game! :P
  5. Height, seat and steering wheel. Needed rwc and needed to pass pits.
  6. As you all know, ulfortunately I got defected a few weeks back. Sadly when I tried to clear it, this didnt pass RWC, and if it didnt pass RWC then it wouldnt pass the pits :( So what does this mean? Well, this is now my track car! Ill be getting to work stripping this right out once i find a suitable daily driver... lol
  7. damn.. knocked off the top :( haha Good stuff! Both cars look great!
  8. Thanks man! Dude FWD is so underrated, once you tune out the understeer they are a ball!! I'm sure you'd love driving it :)

  10. Something different, tinted my fishbowl tail lights just to see how it would look... but I'm not 100% sold on them...
  11. Hey I know those 2 blue cars :P haha How was the road trip Luke? :D
  12. Duy and I are beginning paint restoration... bonnets a little far gone... two tone orange ;) and not even finished yet and it looks this good! Sadly parents say no dedicated race car until I get my own house lol so Sx has to go :( Ill be staying in the Toyota family but its going to be errr ...different... can't say luke will be a fan... hahah :P
  13. Wont be ending for another 6 or more months, ive still got a few more cheap appearance mods i want to do before i let go of it :) i just wont be racing anymore till the next car.
  14. After all the work that I did on the car, I decided to go up to Winton on the Australia day public holiday with a few mates. With the sole intention of having a good time and savoring the moment, I wasn’t really pushing for a PB, and with the scorcher of a day it was I knew that it wasn’t going to be easily achievable anyway unless I pulled out some crazy skills (which I don’t have lol) First session: Went out on track with Jo (woot woot), car felt really good, heaps of grip than ever before but the first thing I noticed was it was lacking a lot of power compared to last time, in fact I couldn’t even get it up past 140 on the straight! :( Everything else with the car was spot on though. 2:08.5020 1:48.1720 1:46.6830 1:46.3360 1:52.2880 1:47.4950 1:46.9000 1:50.4440 Second Session: The heat started to turn up when I took Phil for the second session. We had a bit of fun chasing and passing some of the other cars, and we couldn’t stop laughing when people waved us past but we didn’t have the power to get past them haha! The track was getting so hot that the tyres were getting greasy after 3 laps. Another thing I noticed was the cloud of smoke pouring out the back of the car when I floored it! Not good. Pulled into the pits and parked the car and went to check my times… as we got back I found a huge puddle of oil under the car!! UH OH! With the help of Jo and a few others, we found the main source of my issues, the oil return line on the back of the head had cracks all throughout, the rubber had turned brittle and stiff!! We pulled it off and I headed into town with James to hunt for a hose and new clamps, also more drinks and a fluro vest for James so he could take snaps ;) The vest and drinks and clamps were found, unfortunately the hose wasn’t. We hacked it up with some clippers to ditch the cracked edges and with some help from Frank we managed to pop the hose back on with proper clamps. I went for a spin around the pits and revved it a few times to get oil pressure up and seems like the leak had gone!... lets get back to racing!! >:) 2:28.6630 1:59.4090 1:49.4140 1:47.1070 Third Session: Managed to bring Bway along for a spin this time. The track was scorching hot at this stage. We warmed up the brakes and had a good dice with Andy and Mick in the sedan, and a very angry Gemini who got caught up in our fun. The brakes got a good workout this session as we sat on the tails of the two cars ahead. Pretty sure Brian was surprised how well my brakes pulled up and the fact that there wasn’t even a hint of fade either ;) haha The tyres unfortunately were goners after 2 laps and became really greasy, still they were very easy and predictable to drive on. They did give me a scare when they started vibrating whenever we turned right, but it was only a chunk of rubber stuck on the tyres lol The car began to get hot and we brought her in early. The oil leaks had stopped, with only slight dripping, which we assumed was just the residue dripping off from before. 2:12.9050 1:47.1490 1:47.0380 2:26.3210 2:01.7740 1:50.0030 1:51.7800 Last Session: This time I decided to go out by myself, with no passenger and no passenger seat the car felt very different. A bit more taily and throwable in the corners, it did exactly what I wanted. There was only a slight increase in speed where I was now hitting 145 on the straights (I was getting 155 to 160 last time!) I had Tim in his EP3R following me, and the cars were very even in lap times. I was quicker through the corners but on the straight I would lose any advantage I had worked hard for… there ended up being only 0.05 seconds between us at the end of the day! Not bad for the tired and smoky 82 against a well tuned K20! Ended up with my best time of 1:45.1080 for the day. 2:15.4750 1:47.1480 1:45.8020 1:45.1080 << PB of the day 1:47.2640 1:45.3290 2:23.7300 I think if I had more seat time with myself alone in the car I could’ve taken half a second off easily, and if the weather was cooler another half a second. The motor on the straights drained any extra driving I did through the corners… :( Big thanks to Jo, Steve, Brian, Andy and Frank for all their help and advice on the day, and to James for taking all the snaps! Much appreciated. And to all those who came to the track day I am glad you all had a great time!! :) Over the course of the 2 years that I have owned it, I have gone from a 1:49.6 to a PB of 1:44.4. There is more potential in the car but it always come to a point where you need to say enough is enough. It kills me to say this, but this brings a close to this chapter of the 82’s life… With a few things popping up over the last couple of weeks this also means that I am unable to build the SX. This opens a new opportunity and something that I never thought would occur, but the 82 will be moving on toward the end of the year and many of my bits are already up for sale.
  15. Tuesday to Friday this week has been hectic!!! - Stripped the car right out - Changed rear toe bolts - Changed rear calipers, pads and rotors - Changed to braided lines all round, newer corolla ones on the rear, celica ones on the front! (ffffuuu HEL) - Swapped pads and rotors on the front - left to right - so rotors are now facing the right way - Changed driveshaft - Changed front left hub - Changed gearbox oil - Changed air filter - New wheel alignment - New tyres fitted for monday :spiteful: Car feels tremendously better! Heaps more grip than before even on skinny kumho tyres!! and there are no brakes at all.... that is until theyre warm then they're friggin fantastic!! Also a couple of pics, because i know how you all like pics! Tried on 10mm spacers on the rear for lols... its a bit too much poke for my liking, still didnt rub much though :P haha New tyres... Old vs. new axle... longer one was axle binding as it was too long :( Stock vs. HEL brake lines... rears fit perfectly fine, the fronts didnt... luckily used Jo's Celica GT4 front braided lines which fit better than the "AE82" ones... Tyrepower North Melbourne doing their thing!
  16. Looking good!! :D BTW you want to be in our group at Winton (if you are going)?
  17. After drooling over a certain KE70 I have always wanted a particular set of rims, so after waiting patiently for a few months the perfect set popped up for an awesome price. So I made the trek to Sydney to pick them up. The car used oil more than it did petrol (went through almost a litre on the way up, and another on the way back down LOL) and had axle binding issues due to my new driveshaft being a too long. :( Regardless we made it up and back in one piece, although I do have a sore back (dem NSW roads...) and am still sweating and dehyd thanks to the lack of A/C on two 40+ degree days!! hahaha Hayashi Streets 14x6.5 effective offset +3 with 10mm spacer (originally +13) 14x7 +7 Running a 175/65R14 balloon KH15 tyre. haha They do need a polish but Ill get around to that after the track day... A couple of people said I shouldve gone bigger but for some reason i love a narrow tyre on the 82's :)
  18. Check timing with a timing light (don't forget to bridge it when doing this) and get a new O2 sensor.
