Car 90% complete and entered... Hope to see some of you guys there!

Rollaclub, long time no see! Well it's back on the road again for the first time in three years, resprayed & re-trimmed. Tried to get it ready for a mates wedding last weekend, but unfortunately the scavenger pump died on the way, and I missed the ceremony. Carter low pressure high volume pump fitted with new filters now. It's now sitting on R31 15" rims, they sneak out the guards a bit more than the chasers, once I break the diff again I'll figure out what rear end to fit in it and throw on a set of super lights. Immediate plan at the moment is to lower the rear end a bit to get rid of the raked look. Also the radiator whilst still keeping the car cool is starting to perish, so a new one of them is on the cards. Took it for its first big drive today in a long time, drove flawlessly Will get some shots up of the interior but here's what the outside looks like at the moment. When it was resprayed they welded up the badge holes on one side of the car (WTF?!) not only that they lost the set for the passenger side.... I have another set but their ugly as, so once I get around to repainting them it's gonna be clean one side. Should be out and about over Christmas, pretty stoked to be driving it again.

Hey Chief, This guy here re-built the power steering rack in my old rx7 after buying several shit ones off ebay. Roberts Wheel Alignment Wheel Alignment & Balancing - Beverley, SA Unit 2 159/ 161 William St, Beverley SA 5009, Australia (08) 8345 4538 Honest, up-front, relaible and good to deal with. Will be cheap too if the rack is already out of the car ;) [Edit: WHOOOPS.... way old post!]

It's more about the funds, I fly out to thailand on tuesday, $60 fuel is like 200 beers over there!

If the weather is okay and if i can get a cover note I may bring the twenty out for a look. Won't be cruising tho, cars got no dash, a single seat and a steering wheel atm. Don't wanna push my luck driving too much till it's finished.

Best Place To Buy Second Hand Parts For My Ae92
madaz4 replied to johnny_blacks's topic in SA / Adelaide
Christies Beach Auto Wreckers, I believe they bought a lot of Toyolands stuff when they closed, only a theory though.... Their closer to Marion than Wingfield though ;) -
I have had nothing but fantastic service from Ashley & Paul @ Classic Performance... Safe to say Ashley is the most professional dyno operator I have ever seen. Paul is a rolla head too (he has a couple of AE86's) http://www.classicperformance.com.au/ *EDIT* After reading the first post I decided to delete my rant... I don't want to get this list shut down, but if you are thinking about taking your rolla to Steve from Bells auto, you may want to PM me first

Bought a new daily, $1400 - included trashed interiour, faded paint, 310,000k and an exhaust leak. Think the previous owner thought it had done a head as it was pushing coolant to the overflow when it got up to temp. $7 radiator cap from the servo fixed that on the way home... :) New upper and lower gaskets on the exhaust mani sorted, need some replacement tips for the muffler. Polished up okay, but the paint is farrked.... Need to get the buff spray off the windows, one of my mates reckons it's like driving round with permanent road rage, looking through the red mist on the windows... LOL

LOL, my RX7 was like that when I had 15's on it, used to keep a couple of pieces of timber in the boot to roll it on to to get the jack under it. Remember to lower it back onto the timbers too when you're done with the jack.... Good times.

Well my promise still stands, if I ever get rid of it you'll be the first one I call... Those seats are going cream as well as the door cards and steering wheel. Thinking about cream carpet too as it's no longer a daily driver. I think black or grey will look weird...

Few more Pics.... Grill painted, salvaged bumper fitted, just needs front garnish here... Whilst they had all the plastic bits off they freshened up and painted them for me Rear End New Plates Bonnet Underside, Jono will be happy to know all rust in the bottoms of the doors and boot lid were metal filled and painted like this too... List of left to do: - Chrome trims above windows and below doors - Chrome strips for the sides - Front & rear glass. They had some issues with this as the new seals I got from phils rotaries were a bit tight. - Rear 1/4 Glass - Interior, which is out of the car at the moment, but trimmer wants the car to fit and match carpet before he trims the seats and door cards. Look I'm going for is upgraded original cream interior with black dash. I am looking for someone to create a fiberglass mould to go behind the glove box lid to hold the head unit and cigarette lighter yet still provide a little bit of storage as the MDF creation I currently have is sub-par. It's taken over 12 months for it to get to this point (from the 1st photo) the left hand door and guard have come up a treat since that clown in the Hi-Ace re-modeled them for me, I'm worried as I haven't got a bill from them at all yet. Though they have done a fantastic job.

Stephen from Bells auto can do Autronic, so can MRE. But please don't bother stephen till he's finished with my car! :y: Correct, Vehicle Standards gave me a letter of exemption to take in when I get it inspected. Trouble is that car is cursed and refused to start the day before it was booked in. Seems I got water where it wasn't supposed to be, killed ECU & Ignition module. Been with Bells again for the last month and despite ECU getting sent back for repair, then replaced with a new one, there is an electrical gremlin hanging round and it still ain't running. The deep pockets I had when I bought this car would have been better spent on my house... Cheers, Adrian

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry, went and settled my bill with Bells auto today, and since I was in the area popped into Regency to have a chat with Vehicle Standards about booking in a dry cycle test for the emissions, only to find out that an emissions test is not required, that the original year of the vehicle added to the original acceptance of the engineers report (with turbo, ecu, etc listed) means emissions testing is not required. Long story short I've spent approx 2k getting my car to pass a test that it will not be subject to. Upset but happy at the same time. Car goes in for inspection 24th of March, I have the correct paperwork from vehicle standards now so it will go through! Crossed fingers, will keep you all updated! Oh and for future reference, if someone from vehicle standards advises you to do something to get your car passed, get it in writing before acting on it, my failure to do this just cost me 2k, and as I have no records to prove who advised me to prepare the car for dry cycle testing, I have no re-course to be reimbursed for my inconvenience.

Big ups lil buddy, car has come a long way! Was good to catch up with you at futures, will make sure to give you a call when (if) I get rego, can hit the streets again like back in the day :)

The money I've spent so far covers added emissions gear (charcoal canister, PCV Valve, removal of BOV, removal of boost controller & plumbing the catch can in legally, re-set the exhaust timing) also wired in a couple of hairdryers for demisters, removed the seats, linished and painted the brackets & refitted, also had to replace the tee for the oil feed to the turbo, fit and wire in a washer bottle, fit an overflow bottle & remove the amp that was loose under the passenger seat, then tuning. I'm not sure the GZE ecu will run as a GTE, even if it does it still needs to pass the test as it's already been inspected. I'm not in any way shitty with you Jono, car is exactly what I was expecting it to be [if not better] my main gripe is with Transport SA, and their in-ability to provide accurate information as to legal requirements to get the car passed. I had to speak to 3 different people to get an accurate statement of requirements, 2 of which had a "see how it goes" attitude instead of clear cut instructions. Even then it still got knocked back. Nothing stops me from pulling the turbo off and getting it passed, but I've already had one car ripped off the road by SAPOL via defect, not an exercise I want to repeat.... Getting it insured properly is important to me also as it'll be my daily driver.... The irony of it all is that the original 1974 3k is 7 TIMES THE EMISSIONS LIMIT OF THE CURRENT 4AGTE SETUP that my car is subject to... These emissions laws are a joke...
-
I still got to send them back to you, your old car still doesn't have SA rego... I've had the wonderful pleasure of dealing with Transport SA/Regency and the last conversation involved my "Statement of Requirments" not being met (due to the haltech) and the car requiring an emissions test to be under 1989 emissions standards. That was November last year. Since then it has been @ Bells Auto, who aparently is THE guy in south oz that can do an emissions tune and get a result, well 3 months later and around $3000 thrown at the thing it still hasn't passed. I'm almost ready to consider on-selling it back to anyone who wants it in NSW..... Seriously folks going legit is a pain in the arse!
-
I'm hoping to have my car SA rego'd by the 21st of march, fingers crossed I can make it!
-
I should be able to make it....
-
You old car was parked right next to it @ SCS..... They were fairly even off the line taking into account that Ryan didn't want to destroy anything on the way down....
-
Well it now looks like the car has driven 3000kms WITH the starter thanks to previously mentioned dudes @ Patricks. I won't forget dude :y:
-
Well starter ate itself yesterday afternoon, so I pushed the car to Christies Beach Auto Electrical, which was round the corner from where I was working. Pulled down the starter whilst I was there and it's cactus. New one should be in by the time I finish typing this. All thats left for regency is a washer bottle, windscreen demister (12v hair dryer) and a small oil leak to fix.
-
I only know one man brave enough to call his car Steve! If this is you Bodge gimme a call and I'll take you for a drive.....
-
Cheers for that, I'll probably head round there on Wednesday afternoon and have a chat.
