  1. It's a stock ECU, so it shouldn't be a bad tune. And yes, I have a PayPal account. That's quite possible. Since Saturday it's also started hunting for idle fairly regularly, but not all the time. The idle also seems high when it does settle, at around 1,400rpm. When it hunts, it goes between 1,400rpm and 2,000rpm, which is obviously really high. More money down the toilet - have to take it to Dave or something.
  2. How does it run on the lower boost settings when it's tuned for 20psi? Is it just too rich, or do you not notice any issues? I figure you don't drive around on 20psi most of the time, so I'm just curious as to the results. I wonder if the GT-Four is running overly rich or something, as my fuel economy is disproportionate to the performance. If I had like 400hp at the engine it would be fair enough, but for a very mildly modified engine, it just seems to guzzle the fuel. In one of the Motor magazines I have from when the ST205 was released in Australia, they got 10.9L/100km. The best I've seen is about 15.4L/100km, and that was using the throttle lightly. I'm tempted to remove one of the air lines so that I get no boost and drive through a full tank of fuel to see how the economy is.
  3. No, one of his mates did. CBF though.
  4. Today it has ended. I took Lola to Sims Metal today. :jamie: I still have her engine, bonnet, build plate, wheels and various other bits. However, the most important bits are likely to be sold. I'm thinking of using the bonnet and a spare grill I have to make a tribute to her in my house. I think it would look kinda cool mounted on my wall. Due to my financial situation and a lack of space, time, and interest, I'm selling off my car stuff, and just keeping the GT-Four as my only play thing for the time being. If I get a bit of spare money together, I'm looking at buying a motorbike for a bit of adventure travelling. When I get my shit sorted again, especially financially, I will look into buying another play thing, but it would probably be something like a Clubman, and preferably with a Honda F20C rather than a 4A-GE. This is a bit of a sad day for me, as Lola was my first, and last Corolla. She is the third KE55 I've taken to Sims (I feel a bit evil for this). I have some very fond memories of her and the fun I had, but have been forced to move on. If we could all have a moment's silence for the one we have lost, it would be appreciated. Lola the Corolla - 1981-2009
  5. I took Lola to Sims Metal today. :jamie: Didn't even get any money for her, as they're not buying wrecks any more as the market is so bad. That's three KE55's I've killed now.
  6. Hi Tech TUNING FTW! Anyone can get a power figure, Dave can make the trip to that power figure nice and smooth. :y: Freakin' awesome the way it comes on boost and power all of a sudden - pig to drive much? :hammer: I needs more power and more revs dammit! Anyone want to donate to the "Adam Needs a 9,000rpm 3S-GTE" fund?
  7. Ah, that all makes sense now. Especially with the bit about the exhaust being dropped, which I'd also heard about. The person that told me suspected it had been a collapsed cat. As I say, definitely don't want to bad mouth Dave, and what you've said only goes to prove how good he is. And definitely wasn't accusing you of lying about your figure. All that in mind, we still need to race to see just how much quicker your car is than mine. Of course, if my financial situation clears up any time soon (it won't, don't worry), then a different turbo (or possibly motor) will be in order so I can waste the S2000 and take on your car. Or maybe a race use only ST205 with built motor and lightweight panels...
  8. I've heard rumours about your car on the dyno from two completely seperate sources since I saw you on Thursday. Both suggested that the power figure was more like 206hp rather than kilowatts. Not sure about how accurate either one is, and really only Dave will know. Definitely not trying to bad mouth Dave or your car, and as I said, these sources can not be 100% accurate as I figure only Dave was present for the tuning. It has also been mentioned that apparently with the software there's a minor glitch, so that a dyno run can be done in hp, then the setting can be changed to kW, and it will still show the peak figure as the same number with kw at the end rather than hp. This sounds pretty dubious to me though - more a case of jealousy from the person that suggested it (damn V8 loving bogan). I was under the impression that Dave's dyno read a bit low compared with others, so it does seem a bit surprising that you could make the same figure as was made down south at higher boost, so if it were 'only' 206hp at the wheels at 18psi, it would seem about right. The only accurate way to test it is for you to race it against me in the GT-Four. :D
  9. Yeah, you definitely should have. Was freakin' awesome!!! Can't wait to try it again sometime.
  10. Yeah, only twelve entries in the khana which sucked. And who cares about the GTi-R, didn't you catch the GT-Four skids? The best ones were one the last course at the end of the day, and then they were topped by the AWD drifting through Turn 14 (reverse direction). :y:
  11. Meh. On the bright side, the only issue L&S found was the driver's side lower control arm had a loose bolt that hadn't been tightened when the clutch work had been done. Otherwise all the bushes were okay. Spent a fair while chatting to Lachlan about the car as he'd been drooling over it a bit. He also mentioned that he's never seen a suspension setup like that (Superstrut) on a Japanese car before, and he's only seen it on a very few European cars. He didn't like the fact that there's little to no adjustability in it, which I agree with him on. So much simpler with just a basic strut & lower control arm setup. Want camber? Use an adjustable strut top. Want camber on mine? You've got to buy a spacer plate that doesn't give adjustability, just a fixed amount of camber.
  12. I'm not entering the khana either - too scared I'll break something. :bash:
  13. I just realised - I forgot the Chaser. Must be a Chaser, as that would fit with everything you've mentioned.
  14. Yep, khana at the track this Sunday. As for Lexus's, yeah I suppose there could be the GS300 for another turbo RWD. Don't think they came in manual though, and I don't think Andrew has turned bitch quite yet. If it wasn't one of the three, and it's a turbo RWD Toyota, then I have to assume it's one of the others on the list, 'cause I can't think of another that I didn't have in the full list. Does it come from the factory as turbo RWD?
  15. Hey Danno! Was my logic at least correct, Andrew? Is it turbo RWD?
  16. All three were f@$king imports!!! Lol! Was it at least one of the three I listed?
  17. On the race track on Sunday we discovered that Anthony's orange S2000 has a bit more than the GT-Four up the straight. We'd both assumed that I'd be able to hold him out on the straight, even though we knew he'd have it all over me through the corners. Comparing with the silver car, the GT-Four's mid-range torque was immediately obviously superior, but slower gearchanges and coming off boost for each gear change allows him to stay pretty close to me. Still trying to work out the best shift point for the GT-Four, as I feel it seems to be a waste of time revving much above 6,000rpm (redline is 7,200). Anthony's got it easier - rev it 9,000, slam it up a gear and revs drop to 6,000rpm, just where VTEC starts, so he's always in the power band.
  18. Oops - forgot to mention this. I've known for about a fortnight. :) The Alice Springs event is still on, but there was not enough money or time for the Darwin extravaganza. Should return next year.
  19. Nice one - didn't know there was an off street meet last night. 'Tis a pretty decent time, and beating the GTi-R is pretty kewl. Wanna try against the GT-Four next?
  20. I reckon we could work out what you're getting through a process of deduction. You've already said it's going to be Toyota, and in the above post you've pretty much stated it's going to be RWD. So this gives me the following list of cars: KE10-AE71 Corolla Sprinter Corona Crown Cressida Lexcen Aristo Soarer Supra MR2 Hilux 2WD There's possibly more cars than that, but these are the only ones that have come to mind. I can't see you getting another Corolla when you've already got one so close to being done, therefore: KE10-AE71 Corolla Sprinter Corona Crown Cressida Lexcen Aristo Soarer Supra MR2 Hilux 2WD You stated a couple of posts ago that you are sick of the f@$king around with cars, so I'm going to assume that whatever car you buy is pretty decent already, rather than buying something that needs to be modified to be quick. You also stated in that same post that you'll show what you're getting at the end of the year. This leads me to believe you're not buying a particular car, just a particular model. Therefore this car will have to be reasonably quick from the factory, not a specifically modified version, therefore: KE10-AE71 Corolla Sprinter Corona Crown Cressida Lexcen Aristo Soarer Supra MR2 Hilux 2WD You have also stated on MANY occassions how much you love turbos, so again since you've stated you're sick of the f@$king around, I'm going to assume this is a turbo car from the factory, therefore: KE10-AE71 Corolla Sprinter Corona Crown Cressida Lexcen Aristo Soarer Supra MR2 Hilux 2WD You also just don't come across as the MR2 type, as front-engine RWD seems to be more 'you', therefore: KE10-AE71 Corolla Sprinter Corona Crown Cressida Lexcen Aristo Soarer Supra MR2 Hilux 2WD This leaves three cars, each a likely cantidate. The V8 Aristo and Soarer are already ruled out by not being turbos, plus it makes sense, as I can't imagine you wanting an auto. As I can't see you in an auto, the Aristo seems a bit unlikely, as the manuals are a bit harder to track down. This doesn't rule the car out entirely, just means if that's what you're considering, then it'll take a bit more effort. However, if I had to guess from the above three, and I can't think of any other way to break it down further through logic, then I'd have to assume you're going for a Supra. Apparently they've been getting cheaper recently, 2JZ-GTE power suits you, they've got a bullet-proof drivetrain ready for more power when you decide to modify it (which you, of course will), and they're fast out of the box. Am I close? :)
  21. X-Trail's have ZERO torque steer compared with Stephen's car, and I agree that they torque steer! As per last night's discussion Daven, I would NEVER want to own a high power FWD car. I respect others' choice to own one, but it's just not for me. AWD is king, and RWD is streets ahead of FWD. And before anyone gets on my case, I'm not actually suggesting that by saying AWD is king that the GT-Four is the best setup. I recognise it has many faults, but I like it, and it's not as bad as most would think. I'll try and get video tomorrow to demonstrate this. :( Would love a mid-engined AWD car one day. That be scha-weet!!! Mmm... Lamborghini.
  22. Yeah, GT-Four isn't super smooth. Next car will have more ground clearance I think.
  23. Don't you use the MR2 as a daily???
  24. Went through 25L in about 150-180km on Tuesday. Filled her up to the brim today, so I'm going to see what sort of range I'll get. But that'll be f@$ked up by cruising this Friday night and some spirited driving on Saturday morning. :) I'm heading into Duck's Nut's at 8:30 on Friday - feel free to come join me and some others if you wish. And yeah, haven't spoken to Andrew in a while, but this still seems a bit sudden. Seems a good buy if any of you have the money.
  25. Drove it to work today, bitch. GT-Four is re-registered and is my daily driver... and guzzling fuel like a mofo. :P I put $20 in it this morning, did about 100km (at most), fuel tank is empty again.
