  1. I was confused, as I did think you knew your shit a bit better than that. The stock motor should have 115hp - I think it was only the JDM AE86's that had the 130hp bigport motor. Never known what the difference in spec was though. Given the engine is twenty years old, you will be making a bit less power than stock. If it were me, I'd plan the upgrades in stages. Eg. tuned extractors and exhaust can be used with stock motor, even though they're optimised for bigger power and flow, higher compression pistons can be used even though you don't yet have the cams to fully take advantage of them, etc. You can check it yourself if you give me a hand to move the TA22 into my storage shed sometime.
  2. Daven - you will NOT get 200kW (or more) from a 4A-GE. Remember Formula Atlantics 'only' make 240hp at the flywheel, which is 180kW. You will not be able to afford to build an engine of this spec ($30-40,000), plus it wouldn't be streetable, as you'd have to do a rebuild every 1,000km or so. 200hp is definitely achievable, as much as 220hp is believeable. Aim for 120kW at the wheels and be happy if you get it. BTW, to get this power figure, according to Billzilla, you'll need the bigport head. I've researched where big valves can be bought, and have found the biggest ones possible. You'll need quad throttles to get nice even flow to each cylinder, and some very good engine management. Want more than 200kW at the engine? Buy a 3S-GE. A 2ZZ-GE would also be able to do it. Personally, if all out NA power was the goal, I'd swap out the 4A-GE and drop in a 1ZZ/2ZZ hybrid engine. There's plenty of parts available for them thanks to their use in Celica's, MR2's, Scions, and Lotus's. The ZZ-series has an alloy block, so it's lighter than an A-series engine, but with close to the capacity of the S-series. Want to keep the 4A, make more than 200kW, and keep your throttle response? Supercharge it! Hell, just get some good pistons and rods and save your money for a twinscrew supercharger! That would be super awesome!!!
  3. No, he'd been looking at a 3S-GE powered Sprinter, but he's definitely not converting to 3S-GE in this one. He's looking at going turbo, hence the need for a GZE bottom end. DEFINITELY not going streetable. Wheels look shit, put the Supra ones back on. Nice score Luke - specs sound good, and the flames don't look too bad. Also has shit wheels, but it sounds like you're going to correc that. :y:
  4. I mentioned it to Brenton Taylor last night, and he may be interested - doesn't need an SC12 though.
  5. Cool bananas. I take it you made up your mind about what we discussed on the phone then? You may find that the things I mentioned turn out to be advantages, depending on what you do.
  6. I may be having a BBQ on Monday the 26th instead of the Saturday. I've got all your numbers, so I'll let you know via phone/SMS if I don't post anything up here tomorrow about it.
  7. WTF with changing the topic title without any other notice??? Do I take it that you still want to do the BBQ thing Andrew? Is anyone else going to bother turning up? Is there any point anymore?
  8. http://www.drive.com.au/used-cars/SUBARU/I...549069&pt=1 Mmm... 2000 model, before they got ugly.
  9. Fixed. :P Seriously though, sometimes I do wonder if I would have been better off just buying a WRX instead of the GT-Four. I love the GT-Four and how uncommon it is, but a Rex wouldn't be so hard to buy parts for, plus the engine is pointing in the right direction. Probably would have destroyed a gearbox by now though. :(
  10. My uncle used to have one that colour, but with the higher wing on the back. Is it a '98 or a '99. And because it has to be said... The GT-Four will pwn it. ;)
  11. I won't be home tonight - Wednesday is good though. I take it the whole BBQ idea is out the window then?
  12. And it's easily the most awesome For Sale thread ever. Totally worth a read even if you're not interested in buying. Another classic, Danno. :yak:
  13. Thanks for the reminder - your calendar's have turned up everyone. Was a bit disappointed with the picture used as the main shot as Daven's car was meant to be the main one (due to it being significantly higher quality). As a result there's visible distortion and pixelation. There's definitely a lot of GT-Four love shown though. :y:
  14. You should get some practice replacing them by doing mine on the black Corolla. :P Or since it's you, paying someone else to fix them for you. :y:
  15. Corrected. :y:
  16. No you're not - you'll never be cool. :y:
  17. As stated in email, I'm up for it if the Corolla has sold and the GT-Four is fixed. And assuming I've got money - I need to get a rather substantial personal loan to pay out the bitch, so I may be skint. :y:
  18. Okay, Saturday the 24th then?
  19. They should have been sent in the mail last week, so I should receive them sometime this week. Come pick it up Saturday night - read the cruise thread for details.
  20. What a load of bullshit. We have had a few RollaClub cruises back when there were members that actually wanted to bother turning up. If you have a problem with there not being cruises, then each of you should take a look in the *** mirror and acknowledge that if you put some effort in (turning up would be a bit of effort), then things might happen. I've tried arranging multiple cruises where there's been darn all response from members, and it wears pretty *** thin. Andrew at least went to the effort of trying to arrange this one, I announce I won't be available for it, and suddenly no one else can be bothered coming either. As well as attending NT Motoring Council meetings on behalf of RollaClub to try and get our name out in the community and perhaps get involved with other clubs to try and get some interest up (which is how we got involved in the 2008 Motoring Extravaganza and the 2008 Shannons All Clubs Day), I have also investigated the option of forming an officially recognized club in the NT, either through RollaClub, or a general Toyota club. I was put off this idea by the complete lack of interest by existing club members who only seem interested in using RollaClub as a chat forum. Even that's dying in the arse, and to be honest, I don't really care. If that is going to be the attitude of members, then I'd rather spend my time doing things for NAMSC, as at least there are other members that work towards improving the club, and even just attending club activities. If you're pissed off and think that nothing happens with RollaClub in the NT, do something about it. Quite a few of you are getting your cars together now, and there will be quite a few more 4A-GE's populating NT roads as a result. It would be GREAT to see them all out together in a cruise, and before that, just having a get together to chat about how projects are going. My house is available, and as of Saturday, I have a backyard. If you all want to come around for a BBQ and some drinks - great! How's Saturday night for you all?
  21. Hmm, maybe I need one for the GT-Four then... :lmao: Actually, there's plenty of other things I need for the GT-Four first. Like a working battery. And unbroken suspension bushes. And another 150hp. :)
  22. Damn that's a lot of AE92 Levin's!!! The Trueno's look shit by comparison! I also love the silver Avensis Verso in the background of a couple of the early shots. Only in Japan could you get a bodykit for one! LOL! Nice work Danno. You should build my TA22's for me. :) I'm not sure if I think these are ghey or not. They have some appeal, but I'd be worried that they were going to get cover in muck and grime.
  23. Probably won't go online tomorrow, so Merry Christmas to all of you. Hope you all have a great time!!!
  24. Yes indeedy. Need it (and everything else) gone. Need money, need a home loan. Make an offer if you want anything. I'm willing to seperate stuff if the price is right, but don't low ball me or I'll pay you a visit.
  25. 4A-GE smallports are okay. 4A-GZE smallports are better. If only there were one for sale up here...
