  1. Does anyone have a wiring diagram suitable for wiring a Headunit into a AE80/82 Corolla? Thanks :bash:
  2. Hi...I joined up last month, but only just found the vic section now... :D Names Rhys, and heres my pretty stock AE82 Sedan: Shes done 183,641k's as it stands atm, is in overrated condition, was freshly repainted about 2yrs ago in the original blue, and still drives like a dream :)
  3. Your kidding aren't you? I was thinking of something a little more subtle, like a smallish sticker across the back window or something?
  4. What do these stickers actually look like? If they look any good I'm prepared to get one to put on ma rolla, provided of course you guys think its worthy of one :)
  5. No ideas at all guys? Just a rough estimate would be good, do you reckon I could get upwards of $3k for her?
  6. Well I'm right around near Toyrolla, if that gives you a good idea, nearish Epping plaza shops. Cheers....on that note, from what you guys see in the pic what do you reckon I could sell it for roughly? I was hopin $2.5-3k given its in better condition than the majority of AE82's around nowadays and its got low k's for its age I guess. I'll give you guys a quick run down on it. Corolla AE82 CS Sedan, build date 11/86 (So its the updated AE82 release) 3sp Auto 1.6L Four (roughly 190,000k's) 18 Month Old paint, still spotless, shining better than our 2004 Camry. Inside is in overrated condition, no rattles. Lightly Tinted Windows 2 Piece Louver in overrated condition Umm thats about it, the stereo in my sig may be included depending on the price. Thats about it really. I don't really want to sell her, but shes a lil too small for my needs :)
  7. No progression as yet guys, haven't had to time to visit any wreckers to check out parts. Only thing I've done lately is replace the blades and arms (just the blade section) on the windscreen, now I can actually see in the wet! Woohoo ;)
  8. Fair enough, sounds pretty easy, I'm a n00b at this modifying thing hehe Well your about the same height as me, I have my right leg sorta angled towards the door and it still touches the wheel when I brake, works well as a foot rest, but thats about it. I've sat in a Manual AE82 before, couldn't get my left foot to sit on the clutch with it all the way out. I'm not overweight either, so its not like I'm fat and just can't fit lol. I drive a TR Magna too, and I drive that with the seat all the way back, which is a hell lot further than in the Corolla. Yeah thats my only concern, don't want to create rattles in the car, doesn't have a single one atm, which is impressive for a car of its age.
  9. Great, and what do I need to take out to remove it? I presume the drivers side of the dash at the least?
  10. Well my AE82's drivers seat just goes back enough for me to sorta squish in and drive, the 83 rolla's I can't get the seat back far enough to get in properly, let alone operate the clutch on the manual one. I don't want the whole dash, just the cluster, or do I have to replace the whole dash? If I've gotta replace the whole dash forget it, I'll never find another in the same nick, I thought I could just replace that bit.
  11. Nah they are all FWD, both have the 1.3L Carby, mines got the newer 1.6L and to be honest, I'd be fed up with driving it if it was a 1.3L, the 1.6L barely has sufficient juice for me. BTW, when this car gets replaced, it won't be another rolla (sorry to break everyones heart), they're just a bit too small for me to drive completely comfortably, and I want something with a lot more kick. So unless I can afford a brand new rolla (donations?) it'll be something bigger......being 6ft I can't actually drive either of pa's other rollas, so its this one or nothing anyway. Went down to Toyrolla to see about the cluster and clock, and was rather surprised with the price, $35-40 per item! You've got to be kidding me if the digital dash clock is worth $40! I kindly thanked the man for his help (I might add a very emotionless fellow, I think he was half asleep or something haha) and left..... Might try pick-a-part later this week, have a wander round and see whats findable. I'll pay maybe $10 for the clock, and I guess $20 or so for the cluster, tops. Wish me luck!
  12. Well he paid a bit to get it the way it is now, had it resprayed, removed any rust, and the interior needed a good workout to get clean. I know the person who owner it before my pa, and when he had it the car was one of the worst AE82's on the road, the boot for instance resembled sand paper more than paint. Its now one of the best AE82's on the road IMO. I'm not sure what a KE70 is, but his got 2 1983 Model Corolla's, a pale blue one which is a auto like mine, and a white manual, both in similar but not as fantastic a condition. I've had her for 5 or 6 months now, I've lost count. I'd like to keep her dent free, so if its going to require body work I'd rather leave the strips there. Probably better to have them anyway, because I park hard up against the wall at home and if I ever bump the wall opening the door its that black rubber strip that makes contact, so its saving the paint, like its supposed to  Hopefully I can find a clock and cluster for it today, might give the guy with those wheels a call, see what we can do with them
  13. I just don't want to meddle with the springs....I'm not going to cut them because they are unroadworthy cut, and it affects handling. If I could change them myself I might have considered it, but I'm not game, so it can stay the standard height me thinks. I was looking around at tinted lights on AE82's and have decided against that anyway, to me it doesn't look like it'll suit the colour of the car. As for paint, I know who sprayed it, because it was my grandpa who got it done. I'll look into the paint but I dunno where I'll go with it. I'm going to go looking for digital clocks and instrument clusters today if I get some spare time, so I'll let you guys know what I find later tonight should I find anything
  14. I do want the car to be roadworthy. If I cut the springs its unroadworthy so I'm not doing it, also sacrifices handling big time. That taillight tinting paint, is there any legal issues with that, in Victoria specifically? I've seen plenty of cars with it, but would it prevent a roadworthy? Oh and is it hard to get an even coating? I don't mind spending $10 here $20 there on little things to improve it, $100 or so for wheels because they will improve handling and grip (the 13's on it aren't the best in that department, especially the wet) but no more. Doesn't need a sports exhaust. I'm interested in colour coded bumpers, but I'm too worried I'd screw that up and it'd turn out crappy in the long run, so I probably won't do that. Atm, the things I want to do, thanks partly to you guys with your great suggestions is, wheels (which I've wanted for a while), instrument cluster with tacho, digital clock and maybe tint the rear lights if its legal. I reckon that'd be a improvement
  15. I know that much, but the offset? Is it +30? +35? etc... I suppose I'll know if I go round a try them on the wheels rub on full lock or stick out from the guard if the offset is right or not. These are what they look like: Suitable for a AE82? They're 15's. So even though its a CS without those features stock, they leave the wiring behind the dash? Thats perfect! So I presume that includes the wiring for the tacho and stuff is there? Makes me wonder why it just wasn't standard....hmm. As long as your sure, I might pop past a local wreckers tomorrow and see what I can find.
  16. Not bad for $7 aye! Genuine leather too! Can someone please get back to me on the wheel Offset? I really need to know, and I've tried googling but I don't know where to look :P The wheels in question apparently have two different 4 stud patterns, but were fitted to a Saab 900 which as far as I can tell has a PCD of 4x108, so unless the other pattern is different (ie. 4x100), they're not going to fit right?
  17. Clean is a priority, I take great pride in my rolla and its gotta look good, why have near new paint on it otherwise, speaking of which I might give her a polish soon since the weathers finally fining up here in Melb  Lowering is pricey, as much as I'd like to get some stiffer suspension on it and get it a little lower to the ground we're talking into the hundreds and I just don't want to spend that much on it, just as I don't know how much longer I'll have her....could be months, could be years, but we're probably talking months (as in, maybe June/July next year). Any suggestions on where to go to look for some alloy's? I don't mind if they're 14's or 15's, just as long as they don't exceed $100 and I'd prefer that to be with rubber, obviously not new, I don't expect too much, just hoping someone might be throwing out a set from the garage at a cheap price ;) I like the idea of the digital clock, and the tacho would be nice, any idea how difficult these things are to fit though? I wouldn't be looking at much for a CS-X dash would I? $20 from the wreckers or something? As far as the budget allows section goes, lowering sounds too costly for what I'm willing to spend (don't think I can do it myself ), the windows are actually tinted although not much, easy to tell when shes parked next to another AE80/82 though hehe. How would I go about colour coding the bumpers? Spray it myself? How hard would it be to get an exact colour match ready to spray? I like the idea of colour coding the bumpers :P Keep em coming guys! Thanks for those so far :) Edit: BTW, just to add a little more Rolla to my life when I'm not around the rolla, who likes my new keyring! (Replaced that keycase you can see in the above pic which was from the previous owner, my grandpa) :) Oh and guys regarding wheels, whats the stud pattern and offset required for a AE82? I'm presuming its 4x100 PCD? But offset? (I want to email a guy whos got some nice 15's for sale with good rubber cheap, but I need to know what to ask)
  18. Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the forums, only made a couple of posts so far....thought I might share my rolla with everyone and see if anyone has any "cheap" suggestions on what I could do to improve the look of her  Nothing too costly, I've intentionally avoided replacing the wheels because I don't want to over-invest on the car, I just want to make it look as good as it can for a reasonable price. I mean, if someones got some alloys to suit with decent rubber they'd like to get rid of under $100 I'm interested but I doubt thats gonna happen right  Atm I'm looking at getting new wiper arms as one needs replacing anyway....otherwise its pretty stock, only real change to the exterior recently is the paint, which was recently resprayed but still the original blue :P Cheers.
  19. All good guys, I've worked out where it is, didn't think I'd need to get under the car to find it thats all... So it appears I'll have to pull the front bumper off to access it, but before I do (won't get around to it till the weekend) is there any easier way to replacing it? I don't want to pull the bumper off if I can avoid it, but if theres no other way, so be it I guess :P Thanks guys.
  20. Just went and looked again, still can't see a thing, looking all around the headlight, theres nothing that looks remotely like a horn, wouldn't be able to be even more specific about where to look? PLEASE!! :P I'm not sure if the AE82 is like a KE70 or not, but I've looked around through all the little gaps under the drivers headlight and I can't see it. It sounds like its under the drivers front guard though.... Thanks so far guys :P
  21. Hey, I'm new the forums, joined up mainly for this reason but I'll hang around as long as I've got my rolla :P What I'm trying to work out is where the horn is located under the bonnet of the car, I've been looking for god knows how long now and I still can't find it. I've got a replacement, just something better because the one in it is sounding a bit old and worn out, but I don't know where it is to replace. I'm hoping one of you guys (or gals) will be able to give me some pointers as to where to find it, and then how to change it over (although I'm presuming this bit is fairly straight forward). Thanks a bunch.
