  1. haha sorry I'm thinking a bit oldschool what i meant to say is i've never bounced the rev-limiter
  2. we're all just looking out for ya i think we all go through this stage in growing up a KE70 with a sugercharger whine would turn my head every time - or a turbo popping off with some (ie. quite alot of :)) work 4AGE turbos can make 250-300kw at the wheels - not bad for a 1.6L, right? i've had my twinky for about a year and a half now and i don't think i've "mastered" her yet - hell i don't think i've even valve-bounced even once yet
  3. awwww man why'd you get a 1987 Holden Astra 1.6 litre you should have just got a car like mine +fun :P
  4. maybe a 3S-GE or 3S-GTE conversion is a little bit more realistic - BEAMS motor would be a bloody hoot!! but more realistically i think you should actually get some on-road experience for a couple years before killing us all with mighty powah maybe do the simple 4AGE conversion first, and then step on up to a 3S-GTE a couple years down the track, if you havent pranged it and still think it a good idea (which will be some big work anyway) i don't want to sound condescending but i think it really takes a good prang or two before you come to realise that you're not so "invincible"
  5. my car doesn't "drift" :)
  6. canberra toyota club is pretty much us all here :) we've just moved back hehe i think its been mentioned before how everything gets quiet and we all split ways for summer, and then when winter hits again we all start gathering up again heh
  7. hey mate most of us canberra fellas now make up "Canberra Toyota Club" you can find us all over at http://ctc.smfforfree4.com/ :(
  8. mine gives me all 3 :hmm: what to check... check (rear) guards, wheel well and A-pillars for rust - also will appear around boot hinges being a car that has probably has not had the easiest life, make sure you test the clutch/synchros and check for signs of BHG. also keep an eye on the exhaust for blue smoke on cold start and also when warm during a spirited drive (see if you can get someone to drive behind you) this will tell you if the valve stem seals or piston rings are stuffed. also another thing that shits me and is common with these cars is collasped driver's seat other than that, you're pretty sweet - might have a small issues here and there, but what car doesn't hehe
  9. as a kid i used to eat vegemite and honey on toast i thought that was the greatest invention
  10. had the wrong link hehe my bad
  11. what happened to CTC forums? its disappeared - moreso replaced by a spam looking page whats up with that?
  12. howdy all you suspension gurus out there :hmm: just wondering if anyone knows if a ae86 rear strut brace/bar will fit my ae82 twinky at this point my only options is a whiteline rear strut brace which is a bit pricey (especially considering i already have the brackets(?) in place) if the ae86 part is compatible then that definitely opens up my options alot more much appreciated guys and gals :jamie:
  13. if the tail light that is still working is dimmer than the other side, i would say its probably a crappy earth issue
  14. is the bulb base and/or the connector corroded at all? it kinda sounds like that brake light is chasing an earth through the park light circuit you can try the new bulb idea - along with that (if that doesn't work) what i did to jury rig it when i had this exact same problem (because the connector was corroded to shit) was wrap a piece wire around the base of the bulb twist it tight, plug the light into the hole and then unwrapped some tape around the earth/neg wires and hooked it up there. passed rego for me anyway :P
  15. hahaha sick whats crackin J its dave y0 ru coming to the next meet man?
  16. haha nice
  17. there is a general agreement between all the states on this where you can, for instance, buy your unregistered vehicle in Adelaide, get the UVP in Adelaide/SA and it will be honoured if you get pulled up in Victoria somewhere on the ride home.
  18. if money is no limits by all means this might be a great idea the thing is with these conversions they can start to get very expensive. think around $5-8k+ for frontcut and all necessary parts + work. $5k area would be if you're doing alot of DIY work. and this is all before engineering, rego and insurance etc. i guess unless you have a sentimental attachment to your current rolla or it is particularly clean and rust-free etc. what you may be better off doing if you want an AE82 with GZE is to buy one that has already been converted. these go for less than $5-8k for sure. you could probably find a decent one for $2-3k or thereabouts i once had a CS seca. bought a twinky hatch, got rid of the 4AC CS seca and i havent looked back since :hmm:
  19. good man :bash: hehe i'd be keen to join in for this if it eventuates I'm in belco too! win win!! :fuzz:
  20. i could probably do either friday or saturday night at this point though, i've voted for saturday night - not only does it give us a bit more time than tomorrow evening to prepare for it. also, being saturday i don't have to worry about feeling bad for working all day and then going out cruising all night.
  21. Heyhey fellas. Just dropping a line to wish you guys all a merry Christmas and I hope that Santa brought you all nice things (for your car =p) Hopefully will catch up with (most of) you guys around or after new year - maybe we'll do up a cruise, eh? dave
  22. maaaaan i wanna cruise!
  23. Hopefully I can get my car looking up to scratch by then hehe January is good - I am hell keen for cruisage at anytime really =D Though, I gotta find some time to get my car rego inspected too so I can transfer it over into my name before rego runs out =( I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
  24. spotto! white ae71(?) with the rollaclub.com sticker on the back windscreen parked out the front of kippax woolworths (probably still right now hehe) represent
