  1. Hi Tor Typing error, should read 41mpg. 7K originally had inj but we are running twin sprinter carbs and manifold.Motor bolts straight in apart from minor sump modification to clear cross member Cheers Lou
  2. Hi Tor I have restored several sprinters and KE10's . I still have my mothers original 69 KE10 and our sprinter is a 69 KE15. We are running an 1800 (7K) which is the engine from a 2000 model Townace van a 5 speed gearbox and a high ratio diff (3.7) This gives us good economy (14mpg) . As we run every year from Brisbane toSydney for the Australia Day weekend car show (650 miles or 1000 kilometers). The car has been running for 10 years with no problems. Cheers Lou
  3. Hi Tor There are two types of front bumpers on Ke10 the early ones 67 to early 68 has no indent for the park light it will also fit early ke15 with white park light likewise the later one with the indent fof the amber and white lens will fit late Ke 15 and Ke17 all brackets will not interchange hope this helps CHEERS Rolou
  4. Hi Tom I overhauled one of these K50 a few years ago managed to get all the gears back ok fitted new bearings but got into heaps of trouble trying to put the selectors back together. Even with the help of my son {a Toyota trained mechanic} we eventually took it to 'Gabba gear boxes, the transmission specialists. After they had 2 goes at doing it it turned out OK. I bought a KE70 haynes manual which said Leave the 5speed overhaul to the experts. Lots of luck Cheers Lou
  5. Hi Australian built [ami] Corollas have anchor points already built in under the rear seat just remove the rubber pluges Cheers Lou
  6. Hi Saw your post with your 4 door KE10. Looks great. We have a similiar car which we use as a daily driver. We also have a 69 sprinter , 68 station wagon and a 69 KE10 coupe which we bought new in '69 for my mother. We show these cars regularly and are always popular with the crowds. KE10 4 doors were never imported to Australia and are difficult to purchase. There are only 3 or 4 known in Australia. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing the car finished. You were asking about rubbers for the car. There is a man in Brisbane (Phil's Rotary) He also trades under the name of New Old Stock car parts. If you have any problems get back to me, Cheers Lou
  7. Hi Jim ring me for info re parts or panel beater Kens phone no 33982081 CHEERS Lou
  8. Hi Jim got your message ok if you need that rail and lock ring Joel or me 33982081 can also give you Kens number he is a good beater and has had Ke10s himself Cheers Lou
  9. Hi Bear As some of the other members indicated the price of a sprinter depends on its condition. They range from approx $750/800 . for a rolling rusty body to $8000/$10,000 for one fully restored original A sandblasted ground up resto is an expensive exercise. I have found upholstery, paint, rubbers etc. doesn't leave much change from $5000 unless you are a upholsterer or panelbeater. Not counting all the hours you are going to put in and assuming the mechanics are perfect. I have owned 14 sprinters over the years and have fully restored 4. {I still own 2} The sprinter advertised on Gumtree looks like it requires a resto , but depending on the level you want to bring the car up to work backwards for the purchase price. Hope this is of some help Cheers Lou
  10. Hi Dean 1969 ke10 AMI all came with front seatbelts stamped AMI on the buckle the threaded holes are there in the floor and in the side of the gearbox tunnel the top one is aprox 4 inches back from the centre of pillar and about an inch up behind the head lining as mentioned they were not fitted standard with rear belts but if you lift up the rear seat the holes are there with rubber plugs in for lap belts only hope this helps CHEERS LOU
  11. Tas was right about the inlet manifold but it's simple and looks better than the 7K one. With regards to the sump. As the engine is a stroker I used the 7K sump. It hits the cross member on the left hand side so a small section must be removed. With the motor upside down I cut a piece of cardboard so the lowest conrod rotated without hitting the cardboard then I cut another piece of cardboard to go into the half round section of the first piece. Using the second piece , it will give you how much to cut out of the sump. Cheers Lou
  12. HI looks like you are over the worst of it Ihave been running a 7k in my ke15 sprinter for 10 years has k50 and no problems driven sensibility the sump mod was the big issue slot the holes on the water inlet on the head using the orig of 4k using orig twin carbs off sprinter we go to sydney for NRMA Motorfest AUST davs get round 40 mpg BRIS to SYD I fitted a high ratio diff centre which helps hope this helps CHEERS LOU
  13. Hi Also in my KE15 sprinter 7K with the 5speed gearbox I have a high ratio diff centre as we travel interstate. This gives us good performance and economy' I have 2 other KE10's with 5K engines , and it would be hard to pick which is better. As you probably know the 7K and the 5K are industrial engines from forklifts and light vans and both have hydrolic tappets. I.m not sure what's available in Finland but we found 4K engines with a mild trick up as probably advantageous for a social drive car Cheers Lou
  14. Hi I have been running a 7k in my ke15 sprinter for the last 10 years and have had no problems (driven sensibly) the conversion is simple motor bolts to 5 speed i used the twin carbs off the sprinter as the port size is the same {7k carb model} you will have to modify the sump as it hits the crossmember on the left side as the motor is a stroker it is wider and taller but fits ok CHEERS Lou
  15. In May this year we were lucky to travel to Japan with 2 other couples from the Classic Japanese Car Club. The highlight of our trip was a visit to the Japanese National Museum where there were 2 corollas , a 69 KE10 coupe which was a 4 speed column shift and a LHD sprinter. Moving on to the Toyota Museum , in the Japanese section, was a 67 KE10 and a red KE15 sprinter. These cars were brand new and after a little talk to the curator, he allowed me to lift the bonnet of the sprinter.I will never forget the thrill of seeing these cars Cheers Lou
