What? Want Less Power?!
MaximusPsychosis replied to MaximusPsychosis's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
OH Ho HO! don't get me started in them "Brown-gas" crap!! do the math, it uses 20% energy to make a gas that only gives 10% energy in return.. Thermal Dynamics buddy, its not a rule, its Physics, you CAN'T break it! now trev, I thought them magnets were a banned product on ebay... :blinks: and yeah, I'll look into the Weber carby adapter and CPI, towe001. oh, and sorry, 1C ^.. Thanks guys -

No real way of measuring it, only the tell tail signs of white muffler and hotter running motor (and maybe less power...) other then that, just old fashion trip/tank measurement.. of cause, i could be completely wrong about it... -

Yeah, your right trev. it loves the oil when its cold.. I did replace the plugs just recently, surprisingly clean for old plugs, only one more fouled then the others (guessing the piston with oil-addiction problems). It has only done 2K and the oil looks like it needs another service (someone told me to use penrite, hmm)... This old motor would of been in better nick if a couple of old men didn't fight over car repairs, now I have it :D done a manifold gasket, thee other one was burned to the crapper thanks to a few bolts loose, half the vacuum hoses are blocked up with solid carb, fuel is even getting in... oh and the thermo fan sensor is shot (must replace, the fan constantly running)... I'll just wait till I get this wreck rebuild that motor and gearbox (maybe just a new clutch, see how rough it is), then I might rebuild this motor, or run it into the ground... ... on the other hand, could rebuild the 5S-FE and dump it in.. HA :lolcry: -

heh, by my calculations i'm getting 4.7L/100Km highway, 7.2L/100KM town, and I don't like the look of them things... I like the reach-back look, like the old KE55 coupes, and oddly, the ugly seca. if I wanted 6L/100K I'd get my 1995 Camry running... Alright, you got me, got no money, the best option I have is the carby lean-off, but I don't mind going though the scrap yard and playing silly bugger with odd parts om my car (hence the idea of the efi'ed carby) now if I did come across a lite/townace in the yard, I'd see about the diesel swap.. even to an old wreck for a dummy fit'n'run.. -
So kids, I have this lovely AE82 Seca, 4 speed auto and a well used, compression losing, oil chewing, 4AC. Now I was wondering about getting more fuel for the Ks then the Km/h... having all that power compared to the weak 2A from the old rolla, I got thinking, what if I leaned out the carby to the point the exhaust is coated white (and burning seals and rings and other things) for a little less power and more range... on the other hand in the European and japan market, there is such thing as a CE80, or a CE90/96/97 that uses the C1 toyota Diesel motor (mmm, diesel AWD corolla ...ahem), that got me thinking, what if I find a townace or a liteace that had one and dropped it in? will you guys hate me? Oor, I do remember seeing a thing called 4ACE motor, its a 4AC, with the Electronic Fuel Injection system (I am right, right?), it thats the case, is it possible to add a carby injection job (you know, them single injector in the throat of a gutted carby), will that be doable? because I could modify the computer to run lean... Oh, I do have another 4AC lined up to buy, it has a 5 speed manual attached to it.. It is sitting in a sedan AE82, that found its way into a channel, front end got a little mangled, need a wee wheel alignment, its stuck doing a 85 degree turn.. PS, there is also the option of electric drive-train (or hybrid)... but think I'm in the wrong forums for That :P

I believed it did (thought to be loose, that’s reasons for the knocking), but ask KE30dude, he has the car now, you'll see it on his "Knockabout KE70" project.

got it off with a heavy hammer, a 5mm steel strip, elbow grease and patience… sorry for the lack of adding to this section, laptop is dead, so no pictures (laptop has Bluetooth and that’s how I get my pic’s) (and maybe because I don’t have the net, I have to borrow someone else’s, yeah, I’m poor… so that makes me a little lazy on adding content) Well, got the drums off, replaced the old worn cylinder, replaced the shoes, and refitted the drums… now theses shoes were 1mm larger that the drum, so it was a tight fit (made one wheel not move); so we took it for a spin around the block, we all know what happens when the brakes are tight, smoking! Going to install a new cylinder for the other side maybe this weekend, I will try to add pictures of that little drama then. ohh, also pics of the going of the KE70...

now who in the right frame of mind loses keys... I know I do it almost every day! (maybe that's why i can't find that spanner) Who wouldn't have a field day in there! hell, I've seen about 3 ke70 in there (or may its them hounda look-a-likes O_o) on the other hand, I'm positive you ask politely you can go salvaging in there for a fee of the product you get out of it (I'm positive someone has done it before, for a radiator part)... I might ask them, could be wrong :-? oh, like the paintbrush dipsticks? that was Not my idea! (maybe that's why the 4k was dying, to much fiber in its diet...) eheh, mesa almost hogging your ride topic :-P

oh my, I'd never thought to see her striped so, quickly... well, at least the car is getting a new heart and soul, something that I couldn't afford to do (heverns wanted $500 for a motor and gear box for that car, hence why I got the other car for $400)... oh, found my spanner in there yet?

heh, looking at your project "the Knockabout ke70", I know exactly were you are, I might even go knocking on your door with the car out front ;-) hell even, I've seen your car just down the road from me, 'tis a small world... Why not, I'd love to see the old girl on the road again, but she is only worth the scrap; She's yours, once I get her kicking over again and we finalize everything. (i don't think we need to "finalize" this in the "for sale" section, do we?) hey, $200 isn't to bad, that will be enough to get the other car on the road... More info on the AE80, leaky drum brake on the left, needs fixing/replacing; only one of the front wheels are waring, on the right side.

with all these conversions and and engine swapping, with 4K*'s to 4A*'s and 2A*'s to 4A*'s with ease; Can I swap a 4K-c with a 2A in a AE80? In theory? Could I swap the engines over, with a little work? or is that just inconceivable? just a small question since i have a reasonably good 4K-c sitting in a KE70, and when I kill the 2A I was hoping I could just swap it over. ... or how about a 2A in a ke70? :lolcry:
-
I'll hate let got of the old girl, but you're right, she's not worth holding onto... So, I'm guessing, selling the girl part by part would be harder, but I may get the most out of it? or the whole thing for less? that would be easier... she isn't going to the yard, they would want $50 for the lot... Just a thought, to be a poor-man modder... but I'll post this in the General Automotive Discussion section or engine conversion section would probably be better.

When you're done with that KE70, I bet the original owner will start kicking themselves for getting rid of her. on the other hand, at least she is getting a new life, not the car grave, good find! :lolcry:

Well, no one told me that the wheels on the KE70 won’t fit on the AE80! That was a disappointment! The tires on the KE70 are in better nick then the AE80. Anyway the AE80 may need wheel alignment, or there is something broken, because the front wheels are wearing on the inside of the treads. An update on the exhort system; the mechanics said that it can pass with the patch, just as long as it doesn’t leek.

Hello all, Yeah this is my 1st time (and I may be in the wrong area as usual)... I'm happy to say that I own the good old KE70 stocky along side is the AE80 stocky, but here is my dilemma:- The KE70 has been off the road for over 5 years and slowly rotting away in my yard, I would love to get it going again but I’m lacking the money. The old girl has a loud knocking every revolution (eheh, revelation, the hell?), my guess is it’s the toque converter, it has to be loose. She also suffers from the case of rust, firm the undercoat to the muffler, so that needs a little fixing. I got her for nothing, she was given to me. My current project though is my new car, the AE80. I got this one for $400, a small steal. This one has a few things that may impede the blue-slip. Firstly, tires, yeah, bald on the inside of the front. The second is the exhaust system, it may be in good nick, but there is a patch, I believe that this is not acceptable under the NSW legislation; I may look into it more. Thirdly, the windscreen, that as a small rounded crack on the passenger’s side, this is something that I’m not to sure that it may not pass with. All up, I’m looking at another $700 for a cheap fix up. For a car that is going to be used to get a license in, the 2A-C will suffice in there, even though it take 1 minute to get 1KM/h faster... or will it be because of one of the drum brakes are locked up :laff: Now it’s all good to have both cars, but the blue KE70 I may sell to get some cash to pay for some of the repair cost of the AE80. To get the KE70 on the road, this may cost some more, it looks cheaper and easer to get the AE80 working. On the other hand, for the technical side of the forums (I think I may repost this question there): Can the 2 cars have most parts interchangeable? (I know the lights will, but can the carbie and other fun parts?) Or is it worth selling the blue car as-is/part by part? Or, hold onto the blue girl, so when I get a better income I can fix her up? Edit: the pictures:- my AE80 The rusty KE70
