  1. Hmm, I'll consider it. I just found the RA60 Celica out the back has a complete ignition system, which should go in a bit easier than trying to do something quite fancy. Anybody put one of these into a KE55?
  2. Fit a 20V head to your engine - as far as I'm aware it should be a bolt in jobby. Instant quads, better breathing head, etc.
  3. ^What he said. From what I've heard, the exact bearing can't be easily found, you have to machine the hole out and fit a bigger bearing in there.
  4. Have you tried to see if it works, or just given up together? I'm fairly interested, pretty handy with electronics too. I'd need to get it posted to 4118 QLD, if you can get me a price altogether I'd be extremely interested
  5. Has anybody set up and used the Jaycar HEI (as mentioned in the FAQ), along with the Coil Driver? I'm quite interested in getting this system up and running on my housemates car. EDIT: Might not use this, I found I have a complete RA60 dizzy, ignitor and coil sitting out the back. Has anybody done this conversion, or can give me some tips to how the hell I'm going to make it work?
  6. Almost every aftermarket system will have two holes holding the actuator to the door, in fact I'm yet to see one without just two holes.
  7. You'll have a vacuum leak, simple. My mates car was running terribly - idled like a PP'd rotary, would bog down as soon as you touched the accelerator, etc. Fixed all the vacuum hoses up and she runs beautifully now.
  8. Indeed. About to attempt this conversion in a few weeks, going to pull both engines down and try and write a guide to it while I'm at it.
  9. Have a look under your bonnet - I recently replaced all of the vacuum hoses on my housemates 4K (which is now registered :no2: ) and it was a piece of piss to do.
  10. Ermm, I've heard lots of people getting around 10L/100kms on a 1U-FZE, about 13L/100kms with an LS1.
  11. Check for vacuum leaks to begin with, after that make sure you get your carbs tuned properly.
  12. My work is on board, as soon as we catch up from 6 months of not enough staff, we'll get right into it.
  13. It depends largely if it's turbo/NA, what sort of porting and how well the tune is. They are quite thirsty engines, 14L/100kms would be sort of fuel efficient for a "race"-ported NA setup.
  14. If the thread is still decent, you could do it the same way you insert/remove head studs.
  15. Try here. The site has actually been closed down, that's a cached version I got off WBM. Might be a good idea for somebody to copy that up and post it on here, then have it stickied.
  16. Wow, hope she's ok. My girlfriend did the same thing in her Excel a few months ago, except it was a light pole. She wasn't hurt, and ended up upgrading to a Celica :( Not all bad things come from accidents :bash:
  17. Once I've squared it up with my manager, we may start producing them through my work - pricing would be somewhere around this figure, depending what material we make them out of.
  18. Get a big screwdriver, put it on the block and the other end to your ear. Easiest way to track down whatever is noisy in your car - a mechanic manages to diagnose exactly which bearing had gone on my car this way.
  19. I still think that 5E-FE's could be an awesome engine and produce some nice power figures if anybody wanted to throw a bit of money at one, but everybody always seems to go to the 4E-FTE. I've heard of 5E-FHE's (just a couple of differences) being able to stand 20+psi daily with only a bit of decomp and a good tune.
  20. What would you be willing to pay? The design for forced induction is much simpler than for NA, so I don't think it would be extremely expensive.
  21. My manager said he's interested in making a couple of these up, should be much cheaper than $450. He's also interested in doing a few custom tuned length manifolds, some for forced induction and some for NA.
  22. I'll see if my work is willing to do a run of a few. The more, the cheaper it would be.
  23. That's what, an 80w/90 or something? I'm guessing I'll need some sort of light synthetic?
  24. I'm overhauling a SC14, wondering what sort of oil I should be running in it. Thanks.
  25. That is EXACTLY what I needed. Thankyou very much.
