wire brush works ok to a point, if the bolts are rusty or damaged i find a thread file exelent to clean and retreive threads. These files are square in shape and have all your usual thread pitchs 4 per side hench why they are square, cheaper and more practical than buying heaps of dies

Chinese People Can't Build Cars Either...
dingo ke55 5k replied to demuire's topic in Automotive Discussion
why use a seat belt? when the dash and steering wheel can hold you in place :jamie: -
Ive been running my 4k and 5k using unleaded with no problems. Remember though if you have a hotty best to use premium with the higher octane, but with petrol prices at the moment  best stick with regular, ether way it wont hurt them.

bike prices are very strange and hard to understand at times. In S.A. 250cc motorcycles bring in good money due to the max size on your Ls and Rs being 250cc try $4500-$8000 for any 250 road bike from 1989 onwards wheras you could get a 1990-95 gsxR 750cc for $3500-$5000 its a joke

Street Machine have come forward with the times over the past 5 years, they don't just do v8 stuff anymore they cover almost the entire hot car scene. I have every single issue from numero uno to present day, has taken 8 years to find every issue

Yes rust was a very big issue with the AU, mainly the lower section of the A pillar would rust right out causing the lower door hinge to come adrift. Not good. :y:

The Falcon SOHC 6 have the same problem the alloy heads heat and cool diffrently to the cast iron block causing distortion, allowing the head gasket to blow out. A sure tell tale sign is coolant dripping between the block and the head very common problem. That aside the M series as Super Jamie pointed out aint bad as long as they are maintained. Getting good power out of them isnt hard either :D

When i do the pre delivery inspections on the new Fords at work ive found that the BA Falcons build quality is average. The F250s from the good ole U.S.of A on the other hand aint that bad just the interiors a bit tacky. Quite a thumper of a vehicle the big block 7.3 litre turbo diesel has neck snapping torque and impressive power always put a smile on my face when i road test them :D

Who Has Done A Mechanic Apprenticeship?
dingo ke55 5k replied to rjenman's topic in Automotive Discussion
I done my apprenticeship with the M.T.A, ive only got one thing to say about a mechanical apprenticeship :jamie: You work your arse off for four years getting all the crap all the qualified mechanics wouldnt touch with a ten foot pole. I'm now fully qualified working at Stillwell Fords. The guys there are great but the wage is shit I'm only on $16 an hour, plus you get dirty and go home stinking. If i could do it all over again i would steer clear of the mechanical trade like the plauge  -
Why don't you check your crank to cam timing. The timing belt could of slipped a few teeth

The SUs are better? Better hook myself up then :jamie:
-
Throw your old carby away along with the SUs and get yourself a 32-36 weber off a Escort / Cortina. A 7K should have no problems with this carb :jamie:

Chryslers first real market attempt in Australia was in 1959 when they sold Chrysler Royals, it sold poorly compared to the Holden. In 1962 Chrysler Australia assembled the Plymouth,Valiant 'R' series and just called them Valiants. It floored the competition, The Holden and Ford at the time put out 56 hp and 90hp respectivly, the Valiant put out 145 hp, very good for 1962. Moving up to 1969 Chrysler brought out the VF model it had a squarer body. A two door version was made at the same time looking very similar to the dart. Chrysler pulled the pin in Australia in 1980, Mitsubishi sold the last few Valiant remaining until stocks were exhausted, and that was the end of that -
that is some of the best fabrication i have ever seen. The hard work looks like it paid off. Good job :P

Went out on the old rolla cruize in Adelaide on Friday, had a real good time meeting other corolla nuts and flying through the hills, things were going good. That was till i stacked the ke55 into the back of a ke 20, the 55 came off second best. Scratched the 20s bumper while i trashed the lhf of the 55. Pushed the lhf headlight back into the battery, folded the front gaurd back onto itself, smashed the grille and folded the bonnet. sob Later on i was chasing Scott A.K.A PMP020 when i blew the locked diff :P Managed to nurse it home complete with some new strange noises. I replaced the diff today, unfortunatly its not a locker :bash: also panel beated the gaurd and replaced the headlight looks ok, gotta new gaurd just have to colour match it and itll look as good as new. :y: Scott took pics of the mess so hopfully he'll post them up soon. Dingo.
