  1. People always look at my KE70. Maybe it's because it looks so tired, maybe it's because I live in the wealthy part of the capital and people aren't used to see old cars like this. Car park at school has got a Z4, Audi TT cab and A4 cab, the Rolla gets most attention. If it's positive or negative, I don't know. I don't really care either. Girls look, when I smile they smile back :y: All about the person behind the wheel.
  2. You can't really expect a 30+ y/o car to not be a little off  Unless it was correct before you swapped the cluster of course, then I'd recommend you to re-position the needle, but there's really no use when it's not constant (ie. doing 10 over at all speeds). Did you keep the stock box when changing from the 3K to the 4K? If they don't use the same gear boxes then, I don't know :hmm:
  3. These things are falling off the trees in Australia? They aren't in Norway, for sure.. Send a set of Mk1s or Mk3s my way please
  4. I don't have ANY vids from the track, don't ask me how I managed not to take any.. I do have one from a local parking lot though, ice tracks is like this times a thousand :hmm: Clutch was gone at this point, so I couldn't lay it out the whole "corner". I did once, but my buddy wasn't filming then of course  Click!
  5. No, haha.. :D We clear the snow to make a track, then we drift around with snow banks on each side, and they are frozen after a while. You miss a turn there it's gonna hurt. My buddy missed the very first turn he did :)
  6. But for now this'll do.. Blasted, primered and painted it the other day, got on some body coating this evening.. Came out decent actually, don't mind the crater in it.. Me and a buddy was at a frozen lake, I let him drive a bit.. Thanks yo :) Just didn't want it to rust to pieces without atleast having tried to stop rust spreading first.
  7. :) I haven't bothered opening the link as I've been looking there like 10 times already (proud wheel whore), but those together with Hayashi Streets and Sakuras, plus some Works, are really my fav wheels. I can't decide between Mk1s and Mk3s for the Rolla..
  8. You would shorten the strut casing to get them higher up on the struts and therefore lower more, is that it? I've only been around FWD cars before, and on most of them you just drop your old struts out and bolt some new ones in, no need to work around casings, spindles etc. Turning depends on wheel specs as well, I'm going for 13x8 175/50s so I guess I won't have the same issues regarding clearance. Where do you get shorter inserts then? I'm gonna start looking around for strut casings now. Want to have two separate set-ups, one stock and one coilover, as then I can just bolt the stock ones in for M.O.T (every 2 years). simsey, that looks very good :P
  9. How about the rear set-up, the late KEs definitively can use coilovers in the back (opposed to separate springs and struts)? Most coilover kits for the AE86 seem to work like that.
  10. Bump, as this is again relevant.. We have TRDs, K-Sports, Megans, T3s and Greddys, at least. Who's got any experience with any? How low do they go (the guy selling all bar TRDs couldn't answer me)? Or do you guys only cut springs? I tried asking at a AE86 board, but they only drift their cars. :P I wanna go 150mm/6" down, that scared them a bit..
  11. Just wanted to share, we drove almost 1600 km on two days and it didn't miss a beat at all :)
  12. It's time to follow everyone's advice (including my own) for me too. Tomorrow (Friday) I'm starting on a 1000 km roadtrip to a car show, back on Saturday :hmm: Fingers crossed.
  13. Yeah, stock steelies are awesome! :hmm:
  14. I think both are rad, take a look at this one :hmm: They are deffo sharing many parts, even calipers and so.
  15. Hey, how are your cars keeping up cooling wise, in the hot Australian air? After doing about 110 m-way km crusing at about 130 km/h the KE70 was almost running hot. Must imagine that's even worse for you guys :hmm:
  16. Yeah, three litres worked like a charm really.. :hmm: Good to have some new oil in there when you're doing 600 miles a week ;)
  17. Too lazy for that thanks ;) I don't exactly fill it on up the millilitre, just wanted to know if 4L was enough :hmm:
  18. Hiya, I've got a KE70 with a 4k, I'm gonna change the oil. How many litres of oil goes in there? :wink Thanks.
  19. I think the Megan Racings are like that as well, probably some more. That's the way you often do it when you have separated springs & shocks, you keep them separate. I wonder how low they go, dropped GReddy a mail weeks ago but didn't hear anything. Gonna try Enjuku as they stock em, unless anyone here has experience with them? EDIT: Maybe the ones in the first post indeed are MRs.. Ignore my previous statement then.. :jamie:
  20. I'd say so.. In addition to everything mentioned, I'd bring a wire stripper or a sharp blade. For me atleast, living in Norway with our road salt, copper carbonate on the cable terminals is a problem.. And what's worse, when you're near the terminals, the wires break off due to 25+ years of being exposed to air and salt. I'm no electrician by trade, but needless to say I've got some experience with terminals and wires in my time with the KE70
  21. That's nothing when it comes to rust.. How is it underneath, pretty rust free I'd imagine? Cars like these nice big holes in them here where I live, I'd pick this up in a heartbeat if it was here :)
  22. There are always some AE82s on local yards. Does anyone know whether they work on the KE70? Just need some cheapo springs for cutting :)
  23. lol  I charge the battery from time to time, when the temps fall down towards -10c.. It sometimes start choking on cold mornings, but that's atleast as much down to me being an idiot and coasting in the gridlock. Driven 5 days a week, the whole winter, never misses a beat :D
