hey guys, my rollas of the road atm (engine probs) but i will still be coming. i'll have a purple 75 galant instead. hope this is ok -
alrighty peeps, i am having massive engine probs. the car is still off the road and has been at toyota for almost a week trying to fix it. :( if anyone out there can tell me anything about the engine or problems it may have, it would be much appreciated. so i can pass this onto toyota, cos they are having trouble pinpointing the exact reason why it wont run properly. and for the amount of money i have spent on this engine so far getting fixed, i really don't wanna keep spending money on them looking for the problem. so, unfortunately the rolla wont be coming on the cruise tomorrow, but i will still be coming in a 75 galant. so keep an eye out. cheers guys!

YAY... that was me (well actually my fiancee) he would have been taking it to morphett vale exhaust to get fixed
-
blown head doesnt necessarily mean the car will overheat. i have had two cars that had head problems and only one of them was over heating. the other one i had no idea until i took the oil cap off and it looked like a milshake.
-
sumthing bout it should be 8-10 degrees as standard and it was advanced to 20 degrees. weird thing is though it ran a lil rough before service and tune (but not that noticeable), but now they put it back (aparantly to where it was when they got it) it runs like crap. took it for a quick spin (to the end of the street and back) and now its making a squeling noise. sounds like fan belt squeal. so don't know if that now needs looking at or if the noise is from the timing chain. i know the chain rattles usually, so probably the fan belt. lucky fan belt is an easy fix.

def rip off!!! took it to morphett vale exhaust and as he put it "the gasket was rooted" so he changed it over for $100 :P sooooooo much better now, except it still sounds like a rotor cos the timing chain. so annoyed i can't drive it. it runs like shite. pretty much as soon as you take ya foot off the accelerator it stalls out even with the choke on full. I miss driving her sooooo bad :hmm: hopefully have her running right before this weekends cruise.

nice find. looks to be in good nic. keep the pics comin
-
hmmm....interesting. found out exhaust leak is from gasket for head to extractors. toyota (while it was gettin serviced) quoted around $250. rip off if u ask me
-
luvin ur car bianca. makes me wish shops were open atm, cos now i wanna do some work on mine. I'm so jealous, hope my car turns out as nice as urs. :y:
-
service and tune went ok, except timing chain is stuffed. so gotta get that fixed asap. trying not to drive it unless i have too :y: but on a good note, might finally be getting the paint done. the cars going to my fiancees mates place to be checked out but hes pretty interested in doin it. have decided on the current model ford focus colour called titanium grey, then hopefully a pink pearl over the top.

hey all, I'm coming along. be good to meet u all. is anyone meeting down south first?. i don't know out the other side of town. -
don't worry its in good hands. I'm getting it serviced and tuned next week, so fingers crossed. whenever i get a car i always have em serviced, for peace of mind.
-
yeh i know, i have had bad experience with them before. i dropped a car in for a service, and it came back with a cracked head, and they didnt tell me. i only noticed cos i took the oil cap off and it looked like a strawberry milkshake. my brother also took a car in for a service and it came back only running on three cylinders. both the cars were fine before they went in for a routine service. talk about dodgy!!!! i take my cars to d&t for my exhausts. they treat me properly, (not like a girl that doesnt know whats going on) they've done a few cars of mine.
-
hmmm maybe somethings come loose or they didnt do something properly??? i dunno but its a definate leak. it really ticks when under load, but not at idle (and its not an engine tick either, def sounds like exhaust) didnt notice it as much when i first got it so it might have been something thats surfaced recently??? if u do come accross paperwork, let me know. i'll definately chase it up thru them. did u take it back to them to get the bolts tightened at the extractors? (sposed to be done after bout 500-1000kms) did u ever get the car tuned? its idling weird atm. anyway, yeah i love the car. its frickn awesome. i didnt expect it to be as powerful as it is (well compared to my old auto 3k) decided I'm gonna keep the motor as is and upgrade and replace it when it needs to be (or when i get bored, which ever comes first :) )
-
thanks jip, i agree. i don't see a problem with it, and its my car anyway. I'm not out to please everyone, cos thats impossible. i want my car to look like its had work done to it, i don't want it to look nanna spec. i reckon once the paint works done it should all come together nicely :D where did u get ur venetians from? i noticed u painted urs. are they from another 30?
-
man thats freaky. same colour cars, same sticker and we live around the corner from each other. talk about coincidence. never see u round though. i always see a lighter yellow/mustard boonga 55 cruisin round with an "older" lady driving it. do u mean the hill just as u come on from marion rd? i love that hill cos people pull out from behind thinkin ur gonna go slow, but u just put ur foot down and it goes, and u leave em behind.
-
have had a few admirers as the car is. seems to be getting peoples attention, without even trying. or it could be the sound of the exhaust and the car revving its guts off doing 100kmh on the expressway. does sound tuff though :-)
-
ok, the only changes i have made to the car is the venetians, stockies and plates. everything else was how i got it. sticker will eventually come off cos i think its dumb TOYOTA.. ahh no shit, really i thought it was a mitsubishi :-P i have got rolla club stickers, just waiting for the paint to be done. pink stickers would look really weird with the orange, the plates look weird enough! and i don't wanna put them on just yet. not sure what to do about the exhaust. it should suit the car once its got mags and paint, dunno???. i have to get it looked at anyway cos the leak, but what would i replace it with? wouldnt anything other than a pee shooter standard exhaust "not suit"? tume: its hopefully gonna be charcoal with pink pearl. i hear you can get aftermarket panels. any ideas on where from? i'd be pretty keen if the quotes for paint don't start coming down. i'd rather give em as many blank panels i can so they can't say about possible rust removal and jacking up the price.
-
thanks for the reccomendation, will have to try and ge a quote from them. heres a pic of the rolla with venetians, and her awsome new numberplates :-) the plates don't suit atm, but should go well once the paints done (fingers crossed it ever happens)
-
can anyone suggest a good place to have my respray done? I'm getting quotes around the 4000-5000 mark, but they don't seem too interested and I'm getting the feeling they are jamming up the quote so they don't have to do the work. any suggestions?
-
yeh i figured thats where it was, its pretty bad under load. can't hear it when idling. is the 4k supposed to be a 5spd manual? car seems to get "hot" when sitting on 80km or 100km after a while. feels like it wants another gear.
-
heres some piccys of the rolla on the day i got it. getting some venetians for it tomorrow and hopefully paint soon. motor runs a little weird and has a definite exhaust leak, so have to get it fixed asap. just a matter of finding time, its hard when u work full time hours :-).
