well yes doug i did "technically" buy it from kristian but, he isnt known so was easier to say i bought it off u aeeing as u r his mate and u were there. i might have a buyer for the one i just bought (once i have finished with it), but if that falls thru yeah i'll sell u the grill off that one. thanks for the tips on how to get the winder off, surely one of them will work. whats the best way to prep the trim before painting them? cheers guys

alrighty, picked up some vinyl spray. i decided on black, cconsidering when i get new carpet it will be black so it will all blend nicely. tried to get the panel of the door but cannot for the life of me pull of the window winder. most cars have a split pin behind the winder (i have done it on some of my other cars) but the winder is flush up against the trim and can't the bugger of. i can hear the backing starting to split so not keen to keep trying, until i know exactly how to get it off. does anyone know the trick?

haha. at least i know there is stuff out there, just a matter of finding the stuff that does the opposite :-) if all else fails i could attempt to re-cover the door trims myself, and just cover the seats with seat covers.

ok so likely to be 165000km. yeah its still a little slow but its not as bad as i thought it would be. its nice to be able to just cruise, i found people don't expect you to go fast, where as when i drive my new car people sit up ur arse and expect u to go faster. in the rolla every one just overtakes u. has any one heard of vinal spray. i know you can get the stuff that rejuvenates it, but can you get stuff that can changes the colour (like spraypaint) without ruining the vinal. this new one that i picked up has an immaculate interior, like brand new. only prob is that its that brown colour, and wont go to well with the grey/pink respray. so trying to find an easy way of changing it to the same or similar colour to the first one (cream/beige)

ok, i had the first one quoted up for a full respray and got told would be 7k-8k worth of work as the white paint has to be rubbed back to the original paint and then original paint rubbed back, bog and rust removed and would probably have the removable panels replaced replaced with aftermarket ones. price is just a wee bit more than i wanted to spend on paint, i want the whole project to cost less than that. thats why i bought the second one to use its panels. now that i got the car home you can see the differnce 2yrs makes with the interior. (sbh is a 75, smo is a 77) like its got different t-bar and door lock knob things, i was hoping to use the doors of the new one but might have to see how hard it will be changing over the locks. benzo: how many k's did the car have when u had it, would love to know if the cars done 160000 or 260000. still runs pretty good, didnt think it was that great till i drove this new one i bought. the first one drives heaps nicer than the new one that only has 140000.

apparantly its overheating, so could be up for either getting the radiator recond or a new one (if thats the problem. cos it has no brakes I'm not really up for towing it somewhere only to find its gonna cost me a few hundred or more to fix). reckon I'm just gonna use the new one for panels and other bits a pieces and then sell it. i don't see it being anything major cos the motor has only done 140,000kms (i think, i know its round that mark).

yea its 2 different rollas. the one with the cool plates is mine and the other one is the one I'm going to buy off a friend. (bmxsexmonkey) it could be me, depends on what day, i start work at 9 everyday except friday, so if its a friday it could be me. but if its another day it could be my friends rolla cos she lives in the area too. but that rolla has been off the road for a litlle bit cos the brakes have gone. update with brake situation: they replaced the master cylinder with a second hand one, but didnt bleed the brakes properly, and they failed again, so i think they bled the brakes again, and still the brakes failed. so not sure whats going on there, but all i know is they arent gonna bother anymore, so i get the car :D probably gonna use hers as a panel donor cos i think it'll cost too much to fix it mechanically.

yeah i do live round the corner from u, I'm at huntfield heights. thanks for the offer of the 4k, but I'm going try hold out til i do the conversion. prob going to do the typical 4age swap. if the brake master cylinder is about $260 I'm guessing id be looking about $300-$400 to have done at a mechanics. i'm trying to work out how much to offer my friend who owns it, its about to run out of rego and obviously has no brakes.

god my heads hurting from all the decisions i've been trying to make. first off i took the car to a resto place to get a quote on a full respray and was quoted 7-8k :-( so thats put a dampner on things. so now the question is do i find another car and sell this (would any one be interested?) or just try to get either a donor car for panels and then sell that one? problem is i need a car by next january as i am getting married and my fiancee and i want to use our cars as wedding cars and go with the old school look (hes got a 74 galant). so need to make a decision preety quick so i can get the project under way. i could have another car lined up. my friends sister is borrowing the car atm but the brake master cylinder has gone and she doesnt know whether she can afford to fix it, so i could possibly have that. pics are below ne way let me know what u think?

howdy. I'm having probs with my 77 ke30. when u put key into ignition and switch to access. all the lights come on except the headlights which don't work at all. when u try to switch the headlights on, nothing happens! but high beams work. ne one got any ideas on how to fix this cos at the moment i can't drive at night, which is kind of annoying. cheers! kate

thought i'd give ya a quik update. havent done much, but the 30 is sportin new tyres all round (theyll do til the paint work is done, then ill be puttin on pepperpots), gave her a service, but she needs a tune she idles pretty rough. have also discovered a wiring prob. as soon as u put key in ignition and switch to on all the lights come on (dash, tailights and parkers) but no headlights (at all) even when you turn the switch, nuttin..... so no night driving :-( think i have also picked out a colour. was thinkin charcoal with pink pearl. still havent decided on motor yet, but figure ill get this one running proper and get paint work done first. ne way will keep u updated cheers kate

thanks guys! the car drives sweet as. the diff is noisy though but reckon if i drive it nanna style (oh wait, i have no choice... lol) it'll be sweet til i do the conversion. if the diff goes the car will just stay off the road. i can't believe all the tachos still work just the clock doesnt. i have a friend who has a 30, both the temp and fuel gauges don't work! yeh i bought the car off doug on tuesday. the number plates do worry me though cos i really don't wanna get pulled over and defected, if i do i'll just have to try "the dumb chick that doesnt know anything" card and see how it goes. but i love the old skool look. it would look awesome with the venetians once i get them put in. anyway, thanks for the suggestions, I'm still torn. theres so many choices colour wise considering the car def needs full respray inside and out. will keep u all updated cheers kate

ahhh yeh, sorry kinda still learning, but here are piccies.

i have finally acquired a car to work on. shes no beauty, but whats a project if it doesnt need a little work? plans are to do an engine conversion, convert to 5spd, respray and dress up and re-do the interior. it might take me a while to do but i love to tinker and i can't wait. i will probably start in the new year, once the christmas debts have cleared and the money starts to accrue again. i havent chosen a motor yet, I'm still deciding. had a few thoughts on colours (thinkin maybe a deep metallic red (not to burgundy though) probably off a current model new car). anyway, would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions. cheers! kate

sounds good. i am doin the same thing, but havent decided what motor to put in yet. I'm debating between a 5k and ca18de. like you I'm not goin to be racin or drifting or anything like that. i juat want a clean sleeper. keep us updated to how its goin. you might be able to help me make up my mind in the process :no2:
