I don't think its just P platers anymore, Well not here in ballarat anyway. Here people lap the main street most nights, dragging people off from the lights doing rediculous speeds and changing lanes and cutting other cars off!! Last night for example I was driving home from my friends house and I got cut off my 2 idiot P platers turning out form the same corner at the same time. I had to slam on my brakes otherwise I would have hit them. Then they put the foot to floor and started speeding up the main street. This happens on a daily basis here. Another one was in dec last year, My dad was driving me home from hospital at 2 am in the morning, and just randomly a vn commodore stops in front of us and 5 guys jump out with baseball bats and tried to start us. Luckily my dad is a cop and he pulled out his badge, which is the only thing that saved us. This is pretty normal in ballarat and I honestly just don't drive unless I need to. I am a firm believer in making all P platers drive just a simple 4 cyclinder untill they get onto their full license. It is something that they are trying to do here in VIC and I sure hope it does happen. There are too many young people dying from hoon driving and its sad

Well it already has an exhaust and extracters :D And also dad has a heap of cams sitting in the shed but he is unsure of which ones are modded and which ones are note =\ Well I'm hoping to start buying bits and pieces in the coming months to start rebuilding a 4agze. Then I will be buying another car as my daily, untill I can get this one up and running and full engineered and registered with Vicroads with the modplates and so on

Yea for sure, what I will be doing in the coming weeks is taking it to get tuned and I will get them to tell me exactly what is in there. So that this can be used to help others. Also once my conversion starts this setup will be up for sale =]

Yea it had one of those crappy 2 piece manifolds in it... what a heap of junk those things are! Now i have a one piece and IMO much better quality!

Yea well I was running a 5k initially but the thing decided to go BOOM and no way of it being brought back to life :lolcry: However i had a leak in the exhaust manifold. I pulled all this apart last night, looked around in my dads shed and found a gasket as he has heaps of stuff from when he had is ke55. I also backed off the timing which for some rediculous reason was sitting at 15 deg :blinks: put this back to 10 degs. Gave her a quick bit of a tune, now she idles like she has a lumpy cam :cool: and it sounds tough at idle now. Aside from all of this she is idling beautifully now :D I have in a way realised that twin webbers on a 4k seems to be a little too much, however my dad has a 3k head sitting in the shed, which has been worked, Would this help with performance and assist the webbers? in the near future I will be looking at buying a 4agze to start rebuilding, but for now I would love to the 4k running better or maybe even find a 5k again and going down the road of getting it installed and running, but thats more money I could be spending on a 4agze conversion :yes: But I have no idea or information on the jets, the guy who I bought it off also had no idea, as he focused on the body and the guy before him did all the engine and brake mods etc. The main thing is that I am now idling fine and engine run on doesnt seem to be happening anymore either :D

Thanks heaps twinky lots of useful information there, as soon as i get home from work I will give all of this a crack and see if i can get it running better, these issues only started when my dad decided he could try and tune everything for me and made everythin bloody worse!!! He meant well, but has buggered everything up!

oh the last thing I want to do it kill my engine haha! Well it has now sparkplugs and so on, hmmmmmm I have a feeling my timing could be out, too far advanced, I might back this off and go from there, see if this fixes the issue. What should the timing be set at on a 4k with twin dcoe webbers?

Hey guys, I have been trying to fix this and suss it out myself but I have no idea on what it is at all and it is starting to bug me :bash: The issue is, when i turn my car of I seem to be getting engine run on for about 10 seconds. The other thing is the car stalls constantly and I can't get it to idle. One thing I havent checked is timing, is this something that could cause these soughts of issues

Geee I wish victorias laws didnt suck, I simply cannot get a 13bt engineered for my ke20, but I am guessing the wagons are heavier as well :hmm:

ok so I am thinking of starting my conversion soon, in the coming months. I have decided to go with the 4agze for many reasons. First is I want to stay with the Toyota name and I can get this engineered into my car with out any problems and if i do end up wanting to get more power than I will convert it turbo. But honestly I think a stock 4agze rebuilt in a ke20 will be more than enough power for street use. I will be looking at buying another corolla as a daily in the coming months, would love to buy a fairly straight 30 or 55 so I will be lurking and starting to suss a few cars out soon, it wont need to be amazing, just enough to pass RWC and get rego and then I will be using this as my day to day driver while i rip the 4k and twin webbers out, clean the engine bay, give it a new lick of paint as it is a different colour to the body of the car. Then I will be starting on the conversion, will be a fairly slow process as I will be wanting to this this properly, and this will include upgrading the diff, suspension, brakes, removing the back seats and getting a roll cage fabricated. really excited at the prospect of finally doing this. Should turn out to be a really nice street car with a sleeper look to it. As I do not want this to draw attention. Cops here hate modded cars like this, so no doubt they will try and put me off the road. Thats all for now, will keep you guys updated on when the process will actually begin :D

:blinks: sooo much and i don't understand any of it haha! I think I will take it in to get tuned properly at some point haha... But the noise is addictive, wayyy to addictive! haha

also I called an engineer and I can't get any form of 13b at all engineered for the ke20, and I don't think I want to bother with a 12a as parts are starting to become alot harder to come by. So my options are now to go 7k and at some point boost it, but price wise I'm starting to think of either going sr20det or 4agze. But I am also guessing that the 4agze is going to be a much easier conversion? or are bothe the sr20det and 4agze the same effort? thoughts are greatly appreciated. I just want to do a large amount of research before I decide on anything as I am not very mechanicly minded

ahhhh i think I will go for some of them, where is the best place to buy these bump stops? or is it just a standard order through pedders of a place like that?

your better off going through the phone book and visiting a few people to be honest, you will get a mush quicker response. Engineers go off of a certain set of guidlines of what you can and can't have, so most of them will give you the same answer.

Yea i get all the commwhores trying to drag me, but mine is a stock 4k with twin webbers, i think cos it sounds tough they think it will go hard but it just doesnt go hard hahaa But i do get alot of people coming up and talking to me in person or winding their window down at the lights, some people will ask me to pull over to have a chat. So I am guessing the notes thing is a QLD thing. haha

this sounds very similar to my issue... So I will keep an eye on this one and see what happens and I get nowhere near 8l/100km around town I'm lucky to get 250kms out of a tank, twin webbers obviously don't help but I would have thought at least 350kms a tank would have been a decent target =\My dad and I have messed around with the mixture screws and so on, but just cannot get it right =\

only just checked your car out and I have to say I'm loving it =] I am torn between sooo many engines for a conversion now... I keep tossing up between rotary, 4agze, sr20det, I look at al the pros and cons of each engine, I just can't make up my mind. However I have always been a rotary fan over all other engines, so maybe this is the one I will ultimately go for... Who knows -
Iv never had a note left on my car, But I have had many people come up to me and talk to me in person about my car. I had another one last night, good dude as well, he just wanted to let me know that my car looked neat and that he was glad someone had taken care of one of these ke20 corolla's. I think once I do more of a engine conversion which will run a turbo it will get alot more attention, But at the moment being stock clean car, it still gets alot of questions. Here in ballarat no one puts notes on peoples cars, unless its a girl leaving her number, iv had a few of those :yes:

yea its still at legal height so thats not a problem.... Short stroke shocks?? not to sure about any of this =\ what is needed to do that?

Hi mate I don't actually have the 5k setup anymore, it blew up, So I am currently running a 4k with twin webbers

hahaha well i have no issues in putting another gear box or diff in, I am just thinking it will be a decent power increase and I will obvioulsy get an EFI version which will just make it that much better... But then I still keep thinking a 4age or 4agze would be better also another thing, I'm hitting bummp stops alot in the rear, it seems to be worse =\ have i lowered it too much or do I just need to get the leafs reset?
