  1. The fun begins, rolla's are great to work on and i still own the one i bought in my teenage years! Sounds like good plans to get the project going, goodluck looking forward to more pics
  2. The parking officer who decided that the small portion at the rear of my car extending past the end of the parking sign required an $88 fine. It will now remind me not to park in back alley where my car couldn't in anyway obstruct traffic. Cheers Bud
  3. ^^^^ as above those scrapers are great, also just the plain spring steel type scrapers used for wood get rid of paint quick (they are called cabinet scrapers). I found in sections of old paint these remove the paint super quick, bit of a knack to using them though.
  4. You'll spend alot of money to get a pretty unimpressive gain with a non boosted 3K or 4K, you will have alright smooth power but in no way a rocket ship. If you just want it going decent for a stock motor, give the head a reco. rebuild the carbie and sort out the timing that will at least get it going ok. sort out a budget and that will give peoples comments a much more focused response. can spend 2 grand very quick on these engines
  5. Its probably not the best method but a wire brush fitting for an angle grinder saw my whole car stripped of paint back to bare metal. I'd say as above paint stripper will work better though. Wire brush did knock out surface rust as i went which was handy
  6. Extractors are cheap and easy to fit, $200 thereabouts can get them most places. second hand one come up pretty often.
  7. Gotta say this is one great effort, looks the goods!!! much inspiration to keep building rolla's.
  8. cheers mate. Got some more work done today, removed old engine (they sustain some serious valve bounce sounds horrible but i didn't break anything)./ Gave the engine bay a good degrease and some rattle can black to clean things up. Also got to work on building up new engine hopefully will have it running tomorrow.
  9. This car looks like a very classy classic , nice work mate :y:
  10. Hi all got the head back from engineers and the 4220 dual valve springs fit perfect into the 4K head without needing any work. next step will be testing phase and finding out what rev's they enjoy
  11. Got some more go fast bits back today  . Loving the look of the dual valve springs. Compression I will be running is 9.34 : 1 so not extreme but at least decent. Also fitted the rear sway bar today, definitely makes a big improvement. Challenge now is to have this engine all together in and running by friday hahaha. A few pics to demonstrate that Crow Cam 4220 dual valve springs fit snug in a 4K head.
  12. Got some more work done today yay!!! managed to get the bottom end completely back together and all ready to roll. first time i had ever done this sort of engine work so was a bit slow haha. Just waiting on the head to get finished of by the engineers. Also heard back today that the dual valve springs from crow cams fitted no drama's and nothing needed to be changed to fit :) Here are some pics of the pretty new engine from today. The complete assembled bottom end
  13. I'd like to be steering that wheel, looks tops. The car all round looks awesome mate, very cool styling.
  14. Yeah i did some serious tread reading to find what should fit. Ended up getting dual valve springs from Crow Cams (part No. 4220) which for $120 seamed like a very affordable option. The head is currently of at the engineers getting a reco and having the springs fitted. Should be able to let everyone know if you need to replace anything at all to fit them in 4k heads (like retainers etc).
  15. Cheers mate this finalised my decision. I ordered a set of 4220's from crow cams today, so will report back when i get the motor together and going.
