As the others guys have said, Check the firing order, 1.3.4.2, and i would do a cooling system pressure test, if you know any mechanics borrow theres, (being in the trade you should know a few), pull the sparkplugs out and check for water/coolent in there, maybe spin the engine by hand to get the pistons to the top to make it easier. if thats all clear and like you said the leads, plugs, rotor and dist. cap and compression are fine, and assuming its not a twin carb, or it has a major air leak on 3 & 4 or some how it swallowed a rag and is stuck in the manifold in runners 3 & 4, then it only leaves 1 thing, and that is swine flu! Basically, Air, Fuel, Compression and Ignition,.

Denso make hundreds of alternators that look similar, go to your local auto electrician and they should be able to cross refrence it with the mesurements and bolt and plug position with their catalogues.

I know your not in Adelaide but you might want to ring a Guy called Diamond AutoGlass over here, he put my old windows in and suggested at the time that he could get his hands on new glass for it aswell. Worth a shot cos he could steer you in the right way with a contacts in Vic.

The Alternator can make a whining noise if its putting out alot of current, i.e flat battery or low on charge. But also if it hase a diode problem, basiclly if the current is high, 30+ amps don't worry, recharge your battery on a charger over night and the noise should reduce. If the noise is a grumbling sound, then it may have a bearing fault, pull the belt off and spin the pully and have a listen

From memory the KE20 cable will fit the KE10, and if your intrested i have a Km's Instrument cluster for a KE10, just pm me

Geez rolla68, thats a bit rough, but fair.... not spending too much cash on your rusted/mustard ke20 and claiming to be a stand out car does warrant that type of reply. Having a white ke10 is like owning a red Ferrari, its just the way its meant to be!
