  1. yea ive just had bad experiances with my points dizzy

    wouldnt hold high revs

i suggested the old altenator so he wouldnt have to re wire it :S

its a lil bit of stuffin around getting the engine to line up but to me its easier :y:

    cheers

All Dizzy's are susceptible to wear..my guess is something was worn inside it. Points dizzys need a little more maintenance however i find them more reliable than the Lekky ones. For example my 3K dizzy has seen more than its share of high rpm without trouble.

With the gearbox, you'd rather take out 6-7 bolts around the bellhousing and mess around with an input shaft than undo the tailshaft, crossmember and gearshifter and have it all out in one hit?

  2. Trav, theres no problems running a 5K on a points dizzy....mines been running on a 3K points dizzy for quite some time (mainly cause the dizzy has the weights locked in it). I think the lekky dizzy's (if it actually has one) are overrated anyway.

Plus it would be easier to rip the gearbox out attached to the engine.....they can be a pain in the arse to get lined up again while putting the engine back in. With the alternators, you may find that the 3K one has an external regulator....Med man should be able to give you advice on what the best path would be to take.

  3. er....its a forum...on the internet.

Forum - A place to give your opinion and have discussion....

Internet - Porn, more porn and dickheads that argue on forums.

unravel ya panties and harden the Fuck up before shit starts getting deleted.

  4. The Stock jap diff and uni's in a KE30 aren't very strong and is the weakest point in the driveline.

The 5K is modified and makes about 80hp at the wheels.

It was the front Uni that sheared off so i was lucky I was only in 1st gear or bad stuff could have happened...

Will definitely fit a tailshaft loop of some description now.

I broke a ke30 diff with the stock 3k and a manual box, and a brake job in the grass..

i have a commodore diff in mine. With 4 stud pattern and a kaaz lsd. shes nice and tight. Try to get the best meshing gears you can in the setup otherwise she will whine a bit.

Fair enough you broke the diff in a KE30, they are probably the weakest point in the driveline when doing stupid shit. As for breaking unis, i wouldnt say they are "weak" more likely not properly looked after or worn.

  5. Oook, picture this though.....

On a recent drive out to somerset dam up here in queensland, most of the roads out to the dam are either 80kph or 100kph. I had been driving on this particular stretch of road for quite a while (more than 10k's) and seen at least 2 100kph speed signs. I then came across 2 cars driving in the same direction as myself, the front car (had L plates) was doing around 50kph on the straights and about 30 - 40kph around ANY kind of bend/corner in the road. I could see the car behind this learner driver was getting quite annoyed and was looking for a safe spot to overtake (was only a 2 way road).

Meanwhile, there has been another 2 cars come up behind me and are also wondering what the hell is going on. The car in front did not stop or pull over to the side of the road to let people past, just kept driving at his/her own speed limit. Now, you tell me who is in the wrong....the instructor in the car for not telling the learner driver to either speed up or pull off the road to let people past in a safer manner than to overtake on a 2 way road, or the fact that the learner driver had too little experience with speed to be on that road in the first place?

All the cars behind the learner had to overtake on the wrong side of the road (legally) and then proceed on. Just that incident alone could have caused a serious accident if one of the other cars had of misjudged....all because of a learner driver.

I realise we are all learners at some stage....and i normally give them lots of space and not be a dickhead around them, but this just pissed me right off to think that the instructor couldnt be bothered to teach them some common courtesy.

NB. The learner car WAS NOT a driving instructors car....just a private vehicle with L plates.

  6. you'll find that most laptops are designed so that the keyboard is kinda separate from everything thats not meant to have liquid on it.....most laptop keyboards sit on top of a plastic tray instead of the actual keyboard covering the components underneath. If you do happen to spill anything on it, remember to pull the battery out and let it sit for at least a day so it has time for the liquid to dry out just incase.
