  1. hey Corolla_Gurl, I'll be in Burnie as of next Tuesday for a week myself! I'll be there with my sister, we're entered the Rally Tasmania - in a blue WRX, come and say hello if you're around the w/e of 18th Feb??
  2. I'm disappointed the Royale is "with" cheese, not "with" cheese
  3. I like this theme too! Here is one pic that I thought about using, but then thought twice at the risk of offending someone......
  4. Jamie it still counts as a greenhouse gas if it comes out your arse
  5. as a person who went to uni and studied it, has read loads of articles about it and has listened to more debate about it than she'd like..... it's a fact, we have global warming and it's getting worse I've come to accept the fact that we're probably going to lose the Great Barrier Reef, our rainforests and loads of other significant ecosystems that Queensland/Australia has. Solutions? you can blame and point fingers at everyone else until you're blue in the face, but to me the bottom line is: less people, we need to stop breeding Anyway, I wouldn't want to bring another generation to a place that is getting hotter, we'd have to move to NSW! (nevah!) my 2c (from years - $13,000 - of uni studies and years working in the environmental field)
  6. Good for you! pm me or demuire at any time if you have ANY doubts, it's such an awesome starting event. I'm so pleased that you're going to do it. At this rate, you'll be the only rollaclub rep, you'll do us proud!
  7. not true! you can still go rally car driving in the forest and care about the environment!
  8. I knew I'd get a bite out of you guys! well I take it back, you're the nicest kiwis I've ever met! Good questions Corolla_Kid: 1. Do you need a helmet/long sleeves and long pants etc? nope, just closed in shoes! (hmm conjures up visions of naked motorkhana drivers with shoes on!!) 2. How many runs do you get? felix is right for the "normal" motorkhanas - but at the come and try motorkhana it's all about getting as much time on the tests as possible 3. Can more than one person compete in the same car? at this type of event, yes - you can get experts to guide you a bit in the car. At the Qld state series level, no. I'm not sure about a sump baffle or needing a dedicated motorkhana car. If you were going to take motorkhanas very seriously, then you would have to think about strengthening certain parts of your vehicle. However, your average "daily driver" is more than adequately strong enough to cope with a once-off motorkhana. You have complete control of proceedings - you can drive your car as hard (or as soft!) as you like. It's all about just giving it a go on the cheap. There are heaps of people there that are dedicated to helping you have a good time and teaching you some tips. It's a non-threatening, give-it-a-go environment where the focus is purely on FUN. If you don't like it, don't do it again. There's nothing to lose and a whole heap to gain.

  10. Yep Anyway, Teddy's right - don't let this put you off, you all really should do the Come and Try Motorkhana. Redwarf started out at motorkhanas, so did I (not sure about the Crazy TRD brothers) - it's an awesome place to learn good car control skills. And it's WAY fun!!
  11. when was that one?? 4th!! not that I'm particular or anything. Plans for next year are to get major miles under the belt - first up Rally Tasmania (170 kms in 2 days), then Targa Tasmania (squillions of kms over 5 days). I believe it's the equivalent to a whole QRC in 2 events! then I'll tackle Rally Q. No dirt events for 6 months, I may die!!!!!!!!!! anyhoo, I'm dead keen to see this echo in action, when is debut expected?
  12. Also--- I would STRONGLY suggest that "the man that can drive" would have accumulated the same number of trophies (dare I say it, maybe more?) in whatever car he chose to grace... [hmm, feeling quite chuffed - managed to compliment and insult in the same statement!]
  13. bingoand good explanation fook It doesn't matter whose fault it is, it sucks, and I'm never sure why we don't do what the kiwis did. Somehow they made the whole problem go away (or never surface in the first place). And motorsport is just THRIVING because it's all oh-so-cheap in NZ. Almost makes me want to move there. Except you'd have to put up with the Kiwis.
  14. go to CAMS National Rally Licence Requirements
  15. :D young man, get your eraser busy and nikko it in please! :( Also, I must agree with Fook here. The whole 3rd party extension problem is a major pain and seems like red tape for no reason BUT as much as I'm generally not the biggest fan of CAMS, it's not their fault. It's the whole legal system here, they don't have this problem in NZ. Other clubs have similar problems but in some cases I've even heard of horse riding clubs closing down completely. Motorkhan-ing was the last of all the motorsporting disciplines to ask for the extension, the hillclimb has required it for years. So, really, you've all been allowed to not get the extension for way longer than you really should have. What that really means is that the people watching your events have been at risk for way longer than they really should have. The 3rd party extension is there to protect you, your passengers and the people who come to watch you. It sucks, but it's worth it.

  17. It was lovely and wo-mantic, the sky was so clear and the stars just beautiful It's funny - rallying takes you places that you'd never normally go hmm, how true is the above statement.........
  18. Oh so many stories to tell! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the devil horns on Tony's helmet and the angel halo on Pete's helmet. Gotta get me some. hey baby, how YOU doin'? :lolcry: luckily the soap was saved, albeit in a funny shape. Was pleased that my $6 soap went to a good cause! YES! And Haikal: :D
