ok i have an 86 corolla gts, i swapped motors from stock 4age to an jdm 4age, so its the same motor, and here's my problem, i went to start it up and it wouldn't crank, so we messed with the timing and finally got it running ok, but still backfiring, but i have been working on this problem for two months, i have set the timing to many times, also it won't run where the timing is suppose to be, i have to move it, just to get it to stay running, but again it misfires and backfires like the timing is off and i took pictures and posted them on another website just to make sure and the timing is right, also its has compression and new sparks plugs and wires, so if anyone could help please do so, and the injectors are firing.

ok when you say wrong resistance on the injectors, thats what i thought it was to because before i put new plugs in it, just to see if that was why it was running bad, two plugs were white, they had gotten to hot, so the car was running lean, but i never checked the resistance on them.

Sure the leads are around the right way? Backfiring is usually timing related or leads around the wrong way..

No wiring needed to be changed to suit the ECU during the engine swap?

Set the ECU into the diagnostic mode to set the timing?

ECU not throwing any codes?

well i tried doing that, but i don't think my check engine light works for some reason, i put a jumper wire to try and set the check engine light off, but it didn't flash, and i didn't know how to fix it or why it stopped working so i couldn't set the ecu
