do the cams on 4a's spring off of tdc or do they sit still?

the ones one my sisters 1.8 astina did, but my 1g ones didnt

wondering if its a size of cam thing, or a 4cyl thing....

and des, setting cam timing is as easy as justin said, just can be good fun gettin the belt on nice, sometimes have to turn the cam wheel a smidge to make the teeth line up with the teeth on the belt :jamie:

Genuine toyota belt or a repco one, Is there any difference in reliabilty?

I wouldn't go anything other than genuine Toyota..

 

Now i have been told that a gates is a genuine Toyota belt just restamped and a dayco is mitsubishi, Anyone confirm this?

I can't confirm it, but I wouldn't hesitate running a Gates belt. They make belts (are the leaders I believe?) for Top Fuel superchargers so your pair of camshafts are a walk in the park.
