Teddy Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 ^^ Sorry, not reallly correct.. Uprighting the motor along with giving you more intake room to play with, reduces internal friction the motor has. Insted of the piston being pushed up on one side of the bore, and being pulled down the other side, its more an even up and down stroke.. with relation to internal friction. In a race motor, a nice gain in power can be made by JUST this step. Remember, were talking in 10's of hps here, its a frekin K motor. The words "BIG HP GAIN" and "QUICK POWER" with refrence to a K motor just make me shudder haha. Uprighting the K motor - Uprighted K manifold & if applicable Manifold plate - Exhaust manifold to suit - Engine Mounts - Radiator pipes slightly different - Gearbox Bellhousing (If you can find a TRD Upright bellhousing to suit, youve found the holy grail :jamie: ) Or, if using a non-upright bellhousing.. - If using Hydrolic setup (eg. T box) hydrolic lines are slightly differnt position - Gearbox mounts - Gearstick to suit hmmm, as a basic guide, i think ive covererd it.. Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted November 26, 2006 Author Report Posted November 26, 2006 yes... but what people are unwilling/unable to tell me is the details of those mods. manifolds and mounts are easy, so easy as to not be a factor in thise case. really the only hard part is the bellhousing. I'm thinking about cutting one in half and rewelding it however many degrees turned. however thats easy..... and apparantly uprighting isnt easy Quote

Jason Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 carnt you find a referance point on the motor and mesure the angle before after the upright? Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted November 26, 2006 Author Report Posted November 26, 2006 yes you can. thats no problem. Quote
jamesrolla Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 have a look at the one in brendo's ke10, that sits upright, this car is a very fast track car with an upright 3k in it, its a really nice car, i think it has a new plate made on the back for the gearbox to bolt onto so you can still run the standard gearbox and it will sit in the right place cheers james Quote
Medicine_Man Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Not meaning to gravedig but I believe that this topic is still relevant as I am compiling as much information as I can for the WIKI/FAQ - http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit.../TRD_Uprite_Kit I felt this topic was not really complete and are looking for those of you who have any more SPECIFIC information that you can add to what I have already written up. camerondownunder88 Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 To over come the gear box shifter stick problem couldnt you get a stock gear selector and a gas torch heat and bend? This seems an easy way to do it and make interior look stock. Aso the pic of the TRD mounts look like a custom metal side with a universal rubber block. Could you use a ford escort rubber block here and DIY metal mounts? Cheers Cameron Quote
Medicine_Man Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Yes indeed you could but that still has nothing to do with the proper kit information this thread is chasing.. Quote
