Aaah ok mine has a 3ac and was thinking of doing very similar things... ie: repowering the ninja tercel or transferring the entire driveline into one of these bloody ke70s I have sitting around.... although my initial measurements tell me there may be some clearance problems with the second option

 

Your in cairns and have 3 ke70, I'm in airlie beach, maybe we can work something out if I end up doing this.

that does help, thanks for that. The manifold part is no probs because we are putting some velocity pipes on instead. Also I am a boilermaker by trade so I can weld and fab anything thats needed. I can get a fitter from work to make a flywheel.

After looking at those pics i have noticed something very odd, The E In any toyota engine stands for fuel injection which this engine is not (this was even the case in the 2T-GEU).

 

The 4A-E has an electronic distributor and makes more power than a 4A-C.

 

I've seen the info on the net, so google it

Every 4A-C i know has come with an Electronic Ignition and the 4A-E made 8HP more than the 4A-C.

 

IMO someone has just stuck that cam cover on that engine or they have converted a once injected engine into carby when the conversion was done, thats if it is actually a 4A and still not the 3A.

 

Just for a future reference:

 

BEFORE "-":

the letters indicate the engine family, for example in 18R-G

the engine family is R, in 2JZ-GTE the family is JZ.

The number(s) at the beginning is the number of the are for a certain

bottom end version (block, bore, stroke). The larger the number,

the newer the bottom end version. It may seem like the larger the

number, the larger the displacement but this is not always true.

 

AFTER "-":

G = twin cam (wide angle, 45 degrees or more between the intake and exhaust valves)

F = "economical" twin cam (narrow angle, around 22 degrees)

T = turbocharged

Z = supercharged

E = fuel injection

i = single point fuel injection

L = transverse mounted engine (seems to be an obsolete code)

B = twin carbs (only used on non-twin cam engines, obsolete code)

R = air injection

S = swirl intake ports (only a few made in mid '80s)

S = direct injection & swirl pot pistons (starting from '97/98)

U = emission package (Japan)

C = emission package (California)

LPG = LPG fuel
