smacko84 Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Hey All, I have a KE70 which i have put a 4AC in from an AE71 (changed to hydrolic clutch etc). The engine is getting rather leaky and smokey and i figured it was time for a transplant. I aquired an AE82 for a parts car and realised it has a 4AC in it so we have decided to use it. We have cleaned the ae82 4ac up and pulled off the fwd engine mounts etc and placed the engine next to my car to compare the engines. We have noticed the carby is different (or has a few variations with hoses etc) and we unsure if the newer one is better? the water pump has slight variation with piping as does the thermostat housing. We figure can just exchange most things over without much of a problem?? There is also difference in the vacuum hose things on top of the engine which we don't know what to do about and also the ae82 4ac has a electric dizzy and mine doesnt, is there simply a couple of power wires that hook up to it?? My question is are there many variations between the two and if so what are they?? And has anyone else faced this problem/ attempted this change. Thanks Heaps Samm Quote
Medicine_Man Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I'd just swap everything onto the other block, Less mucking around trying to figure out what is different.. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Arent electronic dizzys less tuning when installed? No more points etc. Wouldnt really know how to install it though. Quote
smacko84 Posted February 5, 2007 Author Report Posted February 5, 2007 so you reckon swap everything over?? would the other carby be better though?? and isnt having an electronic dizzy better also?? Quote
flamingheads Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I reckon make sure everything will connect up and fit and just put it in. If there's any problems it wouldnt be too hard to chnage stuff over when its in the engine bay. Quote
Raven Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Use the electronic dizzy. You just run the wires to your coil. So much better than points. Quote
