Hi everyone ! :y:

I'm from France, and i'm really happy to find this wonderful message board about Old corolla :lolcry:

I have found many great informations for my Ke20... it's so hard to find in France !! :jamie:

By the way, i have a question...

How can i modify the rear patterns of my Ke20 ??

What's the easiest way ? because in france, KE parts are very hard to find... ( near impossible )

I will put KE55 brake system on the front... so the whells pattern will change to 114.3.

extra question : will KE20 or KE30 or KE70 brake lines will fit KE55 brake setup ? ( because KE55 parts is not avaible in france)

Thank you very much all !!

Hey there pinpinade.

Nice cars you have there.

The easiest way to change the stud pattern on the rear of your KE20 is to get KE30 axles and have both axles shortened by 5mm. Use the KE30 drum brake backing plates and brakes as well.

You will need the Jap diff centre axles (same style as what your KE20 has).

In the FAQ at the top of the page, there is some useful information on how to convert your front brakes to KE30/55 as well.

thank you for my car

so, i need to buy KE30 rear end ? (axles, diff, brake backing plates and brakes.)

KE55 and KE70 will be ok too ?

is this right ?:

For the suspension... i will need the KE(30/55/70) Shocks and springs too ? (i could not keep my suspension leaves, or i could ?)

i'm afraid of the prices for all this parts... how much could it be ?

but if i can buy them here ... shipping will be horrible :jamie:

tell me if i'm right or wrong...

(sorry for my bad english...)

Thank you

You just need the axles and brake set-up, not the whole diff.

Everything else will remain the same.

The way to tell if it is a jap diff is to see how you would take the centre out of the diff.

A Jap diff unbolts from the front (tailshaft yoke side) and you remove the diff gears in a cradle, whereas the non Jap diff, or Borg Warner as they are known here in Australia, have a hexagonal type plate that unbolts from the rear of the diff and its just a plate that comes off.

You would then have to unbolt the caps for the diff gear to remove the diff centre.

I'm not sure what you would have gotten or even if a KE20 was a factory import into France at all or if the car was imported privately from Japan.

I hope I've kind of explained it well.

a friend of mine welded the leaf spring mounts onto a ke55 complete diff, trouble is its a little wider than the ke20 diff so i have to use fwd offset wheels.

I'd go with flares :lolcry:

well... in the regular paper of my car it's written KE20 ... but maybe it's a KE25 since they are very rare in France... ^^

I think it's a factory import, because the steering whells is at the left side (like other french cars, and not at the right like japan)

If i haven't a JAP DIFF... it will not work ? i will take some pictures of it and you will tell me if it's a jap diff...

I can't watch now, because my car is not here... :lolcry:

Otherwise, i could buy a complete Ke55 Diff ?

extra question : Can i put KE55 front disc brakes on the KE55 rear diff ? and on KE30 rear axles ?

thank you all, for answer me to all this question... sorry it's a lot of questions :lolcry:

Its all good. :lolcry:

You could, but that would require making some brackets to bolt the calipers to.

I am yet to see anyone who has done that type of brake upgrade.
