camerondownunder88 Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Hi, I recently bought a KE15 sprinter and the original owner removed the twin asians as he felt the car would run away on him as he was old so he made the car more used friendly..lol I want to now put the twin asians back on as I'm restoring the car. But I am not sure I have 100% of the linkages or the knowledge to bend twist and run the cables etc to put them on. So I was wondering is it possible if I could get photos of KE15 sprinter engine bays please to assist me in the linkage install? I al also curious as to how the 3K-B water heated manifold was linked up. I know water went in the back of the manifold in that pipe from the back of the head but then it exited thought the hole near the intake runners 1,2 on the head. I am wanting to know if I get my drill out can i drill a hole in a normal 4K or 3K head to make the water work in this manifold again OR will I have to ditch the water manifold? So photos of how a water heated manifold would also be appreciated so I can see how to rig one up. Cheers Cameron Quote
Felix Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 I don't have any decent pics of when I ran my twin aisans on my ke15. I do have some pics of my twin aisan setup on the bench. If I get time tomorrow I'll see if I can resize them and post. I wouldn't worry to much about the water heating. My carb setup had the water passage ground off the base of the manifold. Just takes a little longer to get up to operating temp, use the choke a litlle longer on cold days. If we lived in a really cold climate the water heating would be of more benefit. Quote
Felix Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 Here are some pics of my carbs. Should give you more of an idea of how the linkages go. Also there is a pic of the water gallery under the manifold and how it has been ground off on my setup. I didn't grind it off myself, it was that way when I got my carbs. Quote
coln72 Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 just linked mine up with a piecs of fuel hose clamped onto the throttle shafts and ran the cable off the back carby as I didn't get the linkages when I got my minifold, but if its a restorer then this wouldn't be original. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted April 23, 2007 Author Report Posted April 23, 2007 Hi, Felix thanks HEAPS for those pictures will be a big help. Also coln72 you don't happen to have pictures of your setup by any chance? I will get pics up soon on what I have and as you will see it is in a few parts..lol Cheers Cameron Quote

coln72 Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Ta Kangaroosa, beat me to it. Will get a close up if you need it. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted April 25, 2007 Author Report Posted April 25, 2007 Hi, Thanks for that link. But if possible coln72 could I get some close up shots. As yours as on the car so it will show me the cable link up better etc. But I have one more issues with my setup. I have the manual for my car it doesn't show the linkages. Also the pictures supplied above and in the link don't have the same linkages my corolla has.... I have supplied a photo below of what my linkage looks like. From that part of the linkages there are clip on control rods that then by the looks of it clip onto the carbies. As my carbies don't have cable pull primary jets but a bell crank on an arm that the control rods clip to. So I am curious does anyone have photos of a similar K setup or know how to rig it up? Cheers Cameron Quote
coln72 Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 hope these pics help. Remember that this is a made up system as I was only given a manifold and I hade to stuff around to make it work with spares I had laying around. this is the only pic in my parts manuals that sorta shows the linkage hope it helps (sorry about the quality) Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 Hi, Well SUCSUESS. Today I finished assembling my K-B intake assembly. After just going off the pics you guy's supplied and a few cingle carby setups I had at home I was able to assemble the carbies again. They all work and I decided to totally strip the carbies down clean and reassemble bead blast and paint a few parts also as the cad plating on some parts from Toyota was gone and corrosion was setting in. So Below are some before pics of what I had when I started: And below don't let eh neatness in this pic of the carby box I had fool you. Linkages missing, stuff bent, rusty, full of dirt, missing parts etc.... Now end of todays finished item. A fully bead blasted adn painted and clean K-B setup on a GENUINE BIG PORT manifold ready to live life again. I also included some close up linkage photos for you to see. Also I like this notice my stainless steel lock wire holding linkages together. Had no split pins left and I had this wire from my place of study at BAC (Brisbane international airport) where I am studding so I though if it breaks about now planes will be falling out of the sky everywhere..lol Also wont corrode :) Also one more thing, coln72 where did you get toyota's parts number book for KE1X cars? I have the lates EPC on all 18 Cd roms but it goes back to KE3X only so I am trying to find the earlier version so I can get KE1X numbers for parts adn pictures. So jsut curious as to where you got your parts catalouge for KE1X? Well enjoy the pics Cheers Cameron Quote
coln72 Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 That diagram was from the KE2? manual which I have two different versions. Also have a KE3? one as well. All 3 list 3k-b carbies. I think my manuals are pre production ones as they have not for official use printed on the covers. Got them for $20 from a swap meet. Quote
