JiP Posted September 15, 2009 Author Report Posted September 15, 2009 For now it'll be the 5K I bought 3 years ago for this project. But after having power with my Liberty I'm just unsure I'll be able to put up with the massive amount of power a K engine puts out. So the goal is to finish the car then do an engine conversion. roladude Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 I have that 3T and T50 still with all the bits :lolcry: Quote
JiP Posted September 16, 2009 Author Report Posted September 16, 2009 Not much of an update but I'm trying to do small amounts each day but sadly since i'm not well i tire real easily. I got her ass in the air and am not happy with how its sitting. Does anyone know if you can get chassis stands that are taller than usual?? The chassis is alot higher at the rear and I would like to remove the whole diff assembly and exhaust before painting the under carriage. That way I can get into the wheel arches a lot easier. Oh and the finished swaybar during the day... Quote
love ke70 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 you can get big f@$k off truck stands, my mate has a pair, sit alot higher than normal car ones, almost twice the height? not sure where they came from though... get some decent offcuts of beams when your back at work (oh, thats right, you only use metal frames :lolcry:) but you get the idea, and use those to pack it up Quote
JiP Posted September 16, 2009 Author Report Posted September 16, 2009 Still rather a chassis stand as it has a small head. That way I can paint around it and when I have it all put back together I only have a small spot to patch over. Quote
love ke70 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 put the blocks under the chassis stand... Quote
JiP Posted September 16, 2009 Author Report Posted September 16, 2009 hmm, I could give that a go. And concrete blocks are cheap as :lolcry: Quote
JiP Posted September 17, 2009 Author Report Posted September 17, 2009 Well I tried this afternoon to rig this up. It worked but in my eyes was too unstable for me to climb under the car. And here is the second attempt. I hope now I can drop the diff out then the exhaust and get cracking with the paint. Quote
surfer_paul26 Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 wow this has changed heaps since i last saw it it looks good now jon keep it up Quote
muzke30 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Why not put stands on the front and back so its level chuck front ones under cross member and back ones at the rear on the sides under the back doors near the wheel arch put stands on a medium height i then used wheels on either side with piece of thick wood on each side ontop of wheels. I managed to change me clutch gear box tailshaft diff No problems Quote
JJT036 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 It may be a bit expensive... but... maybe a Hoist will do it. Quote
JiP Posted September 23, 2009 Author Report Posted September 23, 2009 The plan is to do the back, then the front. I'm hoping to paint the undercarriage so I need the least amount of surface covered. Also... Hardtops don't have back doors :P Quote
JiP Posted October 4, 2009 Author Report Posted October 4, 2009 More progress!! This time with help... Before... After... Before... After... Before... After... Before... I forgot to take an after pics ;) There's plenty more rust and bog to dig out. More next week. :) Hope to smooth over the seam below the tail lights. So it should look good. Quote
