ancullen Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 I've done a bit of searching and have found an Australian site supplying parts for Solex/Mikuni carbs. They've got a fair range too. And the Toysport site states that the Solex 40mm carbs are fine for up to 2000cc on a 2T-G, but you need to change the jets to suit. Quote
ancullen Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 What are you planning to put these on? Nothing yet. :) Quote
Raven Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 Nothing is actually clear in the Redline Parts Catalogue to whether or not parts are interchangable between the two. There are cosmetic differences though. I'll take some pics of my Dellorto's tomorrow and post 'em up. Quote
Redwarf Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 Dellortos, Webers and solexs will all bolt up to the same manifold, AFAIK. I know I've had Dellortos and Webers on the same manifold, so I can't see why Solexs wouldn't fit as well, seeing as people yoink Solexs and put Webers on 2TGs. Quote
Des Posted June 18, 2007 Author Report Posted June 18, 2007 I've heard that Solex's go out of tune easier than Weber's etc but i have no proof or any more information, Just what i have read in a few post's. Quote
Redwarf Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 *Caution: Personal opinion* I think Solexs make great paper weights. In 16 years I haven't heard anyone say a good word about them. The man I respect most in the lost art of carburetors detests them with a passion. *Opinion ends.* Quote
ancullen Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 If I get out bid on the Solex's I won't be placing a higher bid. If I win I'll use the Solex's until I find a set of Dellortos or Webers at the right price. Quote
chrisandliz[RL] Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Every thing that I hear about solex's is that brake very easy, and where out even quicker than a rear right hand tyre. Aparently they rattle "even new one" and damage inturnel parts Quote
ancullen Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Hmm, this isn't looking good. Maybe stick with the Toyota Solex manifold and whack my 20v individual throttles to suit? That way I'd have 42mm throttles instead of 40mm Solex's. Quote
Raven Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 You could also get a pair of dellorto's and use them as ITB's by converting them over to accept injectors and a custom fuel rail. I've been looking into this as a way of fuel injecting my 5K later on, but also could be used to fuel inject a 4AGE or whatever :D Suss that one out Ankles. :) Quote
ancullen Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Nah, I think I'll stick to carbies. I've always wanted something with a set of twin Webers hanging off it, so I'll save up to get a pair one day. Quote
