ewenm Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 hi does anyone know of an exhaust manifold ( not extractors) for a 4kc motor that has twin outlets, the ke70 i have has a cast iron exhaust manifold that has a single pipe outlet, i would like a twin outlet. the motor and 5 speed gearbox slightly warmed is going into a Honda S600 roadster, also using the corolla rearend but narrowed, i'm using twin 1.5 inch su carbys. i don't want to run extractors unless there is no other option, if i could get a twin outlet cast iron manifold that would hopfully free it up enough. any thoughts?????? regards Ewen Quote
Raven Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Twin outlets manifolds come out on pre-1974 corolla's :P Anything after that is a single outlet. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Both interchangable. I pulled my ke55 twin out mani off and put a ke70 single outlet one on to do the j-pipe turbo set up. Twin outlets flow better than single. One thing to bear in mind though - if you are not using a stock inlet maifold (which you obviously aren't because of the SU's) you will be left with a hole in the top of the exhasut mainfold were the inlet bolts to it. You'll have to make up a plate to cover this. Quote

ewenm Posted July 26, 2007 Author Report Posted July 26, 2007 are they available, should i look at wreckers, has any one got one laying around there back shed, i'm on the southside of Brisbane. and a carton of beer could be made available Regards Ewen Quote
Raven Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Taz, I looked in the ACL catalogue yesterday because I required a twin outlet exhaust flange gasket and the exhaust flange gasket lists a twin outlet up to 1974 and anything after that is single outlet. :P If a KE55 has a twin outlet, its because that exhaust manifold came off of an early model 3K motor. Taz_Rx Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Every Ke55 I've ever seen (heaps) have all had twin outlets! :P Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Every Ke55 I've ever seen (heaps) have all had twin outlets! :P Both of the 55s that I've owned have had the 4-2-1, with the 2-1 bit happening in the engine pipe as opposed to the manifold. Both of those manifolds I'm 99% certain are stock to the 55 too Quote
jamesrolla Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 and ke10's and ke20's (pre 74) had just a single pipe 4-1 style manifold with only 2 bolts on the flange instead of 3 like a ke70 has, so you want the mani from a 74-81 corolla, or a ke30-ke55 Quote

Also note the bigger ports in the ke10 mani. :y: Quote
