just to update. (if u don't know. shane has sold two rollas and a bluebird and now has an mr2 (at least its still a toyota) i have 2 rollas. (well, one and a half) luke has joined the dark side, or the light side, or something. with his frikin awesome ae82 hatch! danno still has his ke70 and another suprise as well :dance: and um..... adam. I'm not sure what u have. u just have too many :) lol.

Sorry Shane, I forgot about you. Actually I would hope that your car would match up well against mine. You should beat me for handling, but mine should (by the time we race) have more power due to the later model engine (165hp vs. 145) plus the ABV mod. I'm hoping it'll take it to around 200hp at the engine.

 

Daven - nice to hear from you again. I'm glad to see you still check the NT section, and I do hope you return, preferably with a Corolla. Are you planning any trips back in the near future?

 

Tim - I have two and two quarter Corollas. My black road one, my yellow KE55 race one, and two spare KE55's which are bound for the tip (when I can finally lift the engines out - hopefully next weekend).

hahaha was wondering where the engines were up to, no rush though from my end :dance: Feckin year 12.

It will be SWEET when Daven returns. Hopefully we'll have a couple more regular members by then and we can get some proper cruises happening.

 

As for the engines, I can't wait to get them out as I could really use the cash at the moment as I really need to take Lola to a workshop to get some work done by people who know what they're doing.

I have two spare sets of late model KE55 brake calipers, which are the same as KE70. I've got tomorrow off work and can have them off the car in about ten minutes flat. PM me to discuss when and where to meet.

I've only ever heard otherwise about the 4WD Corollas, though I'm not sure if this just refers to the old Tercel type ones with the longitudinal engine, or if they mean the AE95 with the transverse engine & gearbox. Normally I wouldn't think it'd be much of an issue either way, but the way you destroy gearboxes makes me think otherwise.

 

I've just done some research before posting this, and have discovered on a very good site I know, that the AE95 gearbox should be the same as the Celica GT4 one. Which would indicate that it's very strong. If you get a chance to check out a manual AE95, check the build plate, and if the gearbox code is something like E154 or E50 or something, then you're onto a winner. The E-series gearbox should be much tougher than the C-series gearbox that you'll find in all FWD Corollas as well as Starlets and 4A-GE powered MR2's. Of course, the supercharged MR2 and the MR2 Turbo did come with the E-series gearbox as well, so you could always just use one of those and stick with FWD.

So, next thing you need to worry about is driveshafts. Calling PAR!

the version i want is the AE95 not the longtitudinal engined AE82 tercel. they have uber weak gearboxes...

i want the whole body not just the gearbox. don't forget i still have a crabwalker at the moment :dance:

if anyone knows of one of these for sale or at a wreckers let me know plz

 

oh and as for driveshafts, they will become an issue if it ever arises, i don't think a Bigport has enough power to kill any driveshafts...
